The Clinical Program Manager for Emergency Psychiatric Services, in partnership with the Medical Director and Nurse Leader, is responsible for the daily operations, scheduling, hiring, supervision and oversight of the EPS unit.
Responsibilities
A day in the life of a Manager, Emergency Psychiatric Services at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
Ensures appropriate staff availability 24 hours per day, 365 days per year, clinically supervises, coaches, develops and supports direct reports.
Manages and monitors affiliation agreements with police, other mental health, social service and health service systems and monitors various AES functions.
Partners with EPS Medical Director and Nursing Leader to ensure quality and safety standards are met at all times.
Interprets, implements and enforces department policies and procedures. Maintains current knowledge of state/government regulatory standards and requirements. Maintains knowledge of standards in guiding all aspects of patient care.
Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams when appropriate and consistently utilizes appropriate teaching methodology based upon the learning needs of the patients and staff.
Supports front-line operations when necessary and completes clinical assessments as needed.
Represent EPS Department at county System Review Committee meetings.
Manages the recruitment, development and supervision of team members. Creates and sustains an environment that fosters team member engagement. Establishes clear objectives tied to department and/or organizational strategic goals. Coaches, counsels, and evaluates performance of direct reports.
Tracks, analyzes, trends and reports on relevant data and metrics as needed and/or requested. Develops,
recommends and/or implements actions or process improvements as appropriate.
Develops and manages the budget for the EPS program. Regularly monitors relevant key financial indicators and performance metrics, modifying business activities where needed in response to changing financial situations.
Promotes patient satisfaction through demonstrated commitment to providing excellent service by
interacting in a friendly, helpful manner. Communicates potential or unresolved patient satisfaction issues to the office of
patient experience.
Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Master's degree from an accredited institution in social work, psychology, nursing or a related field;
Minimum of three years experience in the provision of mental health services;
Successful completion of the Division-sponsored screener certification course and passage of the proficiency exam within six months of the date of hire.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
Certification in the field.
Doctoral degree in the field.
One year of post-master's supervisory experience in the mental health field.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
NJ Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Professional Counselor License.
Appropriate license for a degree earned.
