The IAM Protect team manages Entra tenants for all Microsoft Cloud. The mission of the IAM Protect team under Data Security and Resilience (DSR) is to ensure that the people, applications, and devices in the Microsoft ecosystem are trusted, scoped, and appropriately isolated. Within IAM Protect, the Production Tenant Management and Security Data Platform team is responsible for collecting and managing the telemetry needed to secure the Entra tenants.

We are seeking a Software Engineer II with data platform experience to join our mission of protecting Microsoft Cloud by building and operating security services that enforce security policies across thousands of services. In this role, you will shape the future of security at Microsoft, leveraging your insights to protect Microsoft services and customers. Your primary focus will be on designing, developing, and optimizing our data infrastructure to deliver scalable and high-performance data solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and architecture of a data platform, ensuring data integrity, security, and high availability.

  • Develop and maintain robust data pipelines and data warehousing solutions that meet business needs.

  • Build scalable data models and pipelines to extract, load, and transform data, focusing on secure storage, data quality, and compliance.

  • Collaborate with product teams, data analysts, and engineering teams to create trusted foundational data sets that align with business strategy.

  • Work with engineers, product managers, and customers to gather requirements, provide feedback, and deliver effective solutions.

  • Analyze large data sets to assess security risks for Microsoft in collaboration with team members.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Previous experience in business analytics, data modeling, or data engineering.

  • 2+ years of experience with data pipelining and transformation technologies, such as Spark, along with experience using the Azure Data tech stack.

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with big data technologies and data analytics tools.

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
