Join our team building real-time communication media orchestration services. The platform processes near real-time audio streams from multiple participants, and interfaces with services to generate live transcriptions, recordings, biometrics and other live real time systems. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for high-performance systems, audio streaming, and scalable architecture.
As a Software Engineer II , you'll work on designing, implementing, and optimizing systems that handle real-time audio streams with high efficiency and low latency. You will collaborate with other teams, support existing applications, and enhance the platform with new features. Your expertise will help drive the success of this mission-critical system used by millions globally.

Responsibilities
As an engineer you will be responsible for implementing features towards a wide variety of services as well as ensuring they are built to meet enterprise quality standards and cloud scale requirements, with the result being software that is used by individuals and businesses throughout the world. In short, you will do the following:
Participate in the design, development, and release of new features in the real-time audio processing platform.
Focus on optimizing near real-time audio processing, minimizing latency, and ensuring reliability at scale.
Work closely with cross-functional teams, to deliver high-quality software that meets user needs.
Thrive in a dynamic environment where priorities shift frequently, and multitasking is required.
Show an eagerness to learn new technologies and approaches, contributing to continuous improvement within the team.
Work with Cloud Native technologies and ensure efficient deployment using Docker containers and Kubernetes for orchestration and Microsoft Azure’s echo system.
Communicate effectively in a distributed team with members across different time zones. English fluency is required.
Live Site Support & Enhancements: Provide Livesite support: monitor live systems, investigate production issues, resolve customer incidents, perform root cause analysis, and ensure services are continually improved
Throughout your tasks, you will work closely with Program Managers and other Software Engineers to optimize design, quality and functionality as Microsoft places a premium on the ability to work well in a team environment.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
OR equivalent experience.
Expertise in C# and .NET Core, with experience building high-performance, scalable systems. Experience with other languages like Java, Go, Python, Rust or other languages suited for real time systems is highly beneficial.
Experience with Azure (preferred), AWS, or GCP for cloud-based development and deployment.
Hands-on experience with distributed systems programming, including protocols such as HTTP/S, WebSockets, and gRPC.
Proficiency with Docker containers and experience working with Kubernetes for orchestration and strong experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployments.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
- This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred/Additional Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
OR related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript,
OR Python
OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
OR equivalent experience.
Familiarity or experience with Rust for performance-critical, low-latency components.
Experience with WebRTC, RTP, or other audio/video streaming protocols for real-time communication.
Familiarity with VoIP, MRCP, SIP, and knowledge of data security and encryption techniques.
Familiarity with Agile software development processes such as Scrum or Kanban.
Focus on customers success, zero trust security and compliance
Experience with design and implementation of enterprise-scale services
Excellent verbal, written, and cross-team collaboration skills are essential to succeed in this role.
A team player and collaborator, across time zones and diverse stakeholder groups
Passion for improving software quality and engineering excellence
Experience in developing, debugging, and supporting code in object-oriented languages and database querying languages.
Experience with building infrastructure using Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud
Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
