Robert Half Accountant in Reno, Nevada

Description We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for an Accountant in Reno, Nevada. This role primarily involves handling various grant and other accounting responsibilities in a dynamic workplace. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of accounting principles.

Responsibilities:

• Accurate and efficient processing of all grant financial reporting requirements.

• Regular monitoring of grant expenditures and budgets to ensure compliance with federal, state, or other grant requirements.

• Regular interaction with grant coordinators and other district personnel to maintain smooth operation.

• Active participation in grant monitoring visits and provision of support for internal and external audits.

• Maintenance of various subsidiary ledgers and preparation and posting of journal entries.

• Review of purchase requisitions and purchasing card transactions for accuracy and completeness.

• Maintenance of position control allocations and preparation of schedules, cost analyses, projections, and reports as needed.

• Conducting research and analysis as required and development and maintenance of procedure manuals.

• Monitoring and documentation of the accounts payable and payroll systems for quality assurance and operational efficiency. Requirements • Possession of a Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field

• Minimum of three years of experience in an accounting role

• Proficiency in accounting functions, including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Experience with Balance Sheet Account management

• Familiarity with Grant Accounting procedures

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office suite

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Adherence to ethical standards and compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations pertaining to the accounting industry.
