Description

Robert Half Contract Finance & Accounting team is in search an Accounting Specialist for our client in the non-profit space here in Reno. As an Accounting Specialist, you will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities, including maintaining accurate records, preparing accounting statements and financial reports, and resolving accounting discrepancies. This role also involves supporting various processes related to our agency's grants, programs, and contracts. Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage accounts receivable and grant production reports, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and agency policies.

• Maintain control reports such as purchase orders and accrued liabilities, providing accurate record-keeping.

• Record business transactions including journal entries, cash receipts, bank deposits, and purchase orders.

• Assist in preparing budgets for grants and departments, contributing to the financial planning process.

• Conduct accounting activities such as maintenance of the general ledger and preparation of various accounting statements and financial reports.

• Prepare computer spreadsheets, budget versus actual statements, and grant reports as required, ensuring all data is accurate and up-to-date.

• Process forms, requests, purchase orders, and invoices, ensuring all documentation is correctly recorded and filed.

• Reconcile all balance sheet accounts for the agency and other companies, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial data.

• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies, providing solutions to any issues that arise.

• Provide backup support to other accounting staff as needed, fostering a collaborative work environment.

Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a relevant accounting role within the non-profit sector

• Proven proficiency in Accounting Software Systems

• Demonstrated ability to perform all Accounting Functions with a high level of accuracy

• Experience in managing Accounts Payable (AP)

• Familiarity with Auditing procedures and practices

• Ability to perform Billing Functions effectively and efficiently

• Experience in preparing and posting Journal Entries

• Proficiency in Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation

• Strong skills in Account Reconciliation and the ability to resolve discrepancies promptly
