SUMMARY:

The Advanced Wound Care Specialist_RN in conjunction with the Physicians and clinical manager, provides direction and coordination of wound/ostomy services to inpatients, outpatients, and their families and assures that patient education is appropriate to the developmental stage and age of the patients served.The specialist RN also provides support and education to the staff of Renown Health System involved in wound/ostomy and or lymphedema care.

MINIMUM/PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Education: M

ust have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and

speaking English. Appropriate education to obtain and maintain Registered Nursing licensure

in the State of

One year of general surgical nursing experience, prior wound/ostomy care and/or minimum of two years clinical nursing experience. License:Ability to obtain and maintain a State ofNevada Registered Nurselicense. Certification:Requires current BLS certification by the American Heart Association.Certification in wound, continence and/or ostomy (CWN, CWON, CWOCN, CON, CCN, COCN, CWCN, CFCN or CWS) and/or foot and nail services (CFNC) is required within 3 years of hire).CFNC required for providing foot and nail services. Computer/Typing:Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook,PowerPoint, Excel and Word andhave the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

The major challenges of this position in accordance with respective professional scope of practice are:

Coordinates the wound/ostomy/incontinence/fistulas/tubes/continent diversions.

Establishes and maintains interdisciplinary communication and team work with all other health professionals providing care or education to the patient.

Coordinates and gives inservices to promote current standards related to wound/ostomy/ and or lymphedema care.

Debridement including conservative sharp, enzymatic, autolytic, ultrasonic, and mechanical

Demonstrates the ability to apply comprehensive knowledge in the principles and techniques of current wound/ostomy/lymphedema management.
