We are looking for an Allergenicity Safety Manager, Seeds & Traits to join our Agricultural Solutions team in Research Triangle Park, NC.

As an Allergenicity Safety Manager, Seeds & Traits, you will provide support for our Seeds and Traits (S&T) portfolio, which would primarily require coordination and management of allergenicity risk assessments related to S&T products. The position also entails supporting toxicity and animal feeding studies as needed within the Product Safety Assessment team. This position would require the development of strategies and work programs to address regulatory requirements related to allergenicity and toxicity from regulatory authorities, other decision makers, and public interest groups. Position responsibilities include managing the collection, evaluation, and dissemination of regulatory data and assessments, including interpretation of bioinformatics, in support of global operations to ensure approval of products and compliance with governmental regulations. Although the position is located in the Research Triangle Park, NC, USA, the incumbent has responsibility to provide support globally on assigned projects. The incumbent must act sustainably and proactively to ensure that best available science and innovative technologies/solutions can be integrated into global safety assessment strategies.

As an Allergenicity Safety Manager, Seeds & Traits, you create chemistry by...

  • Critically evaluating and interpreting study results and developing experimental programs to generate data needed to assess the safety of current and future products.

  • Compiling information coming from many studies and sources and developing an in-depth and complete understanding of the safety profile of the product and preparing a thorough Safety Assessment.

  • Advising Research, Regulatory Science and Regulatory Affairs of developments and requirements with respect to data requirements and proposing solutions to address them.

  • Ensuring the scientific, budgetary, and temporal follow-up of all studies under your responsibility to deliver on the study objectives, costs, and deadlines.

  • Participating in interdisciplinary teams for the preparation and submission of safety profiles to obtain regulatory approvals for new products and maintaining the registration of approved products.

If you...

  • PhD in immunology, toxicology, biochemistry, food science, or closely related science with 3-5 years of relevant industry experience in the crop biotechnology, agricultural industry, or other relevant industry.

  • M.S. in immunology, toxicology, biochemistry, food science, or closely related science with 8 years of relevant industry experience in the crop biotechnology, agricultural industry, or other relevant industry.

  • Strong understanding of international data requirements and regulatory policies related to allergenicity and, to a lesser extent, toxicity assessment for Seeds and Traits (S&T) products.

  • Experience in developing and implementing comprehensive allergenicity assessment strategies for S&T products.

  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of food allergies, including IgE and non-IgE mediated immune responses.

  • Good knowledge of molecular biology, bioinformatic tools and interpretation, and protein modeling programs.

  • Familiarity with monitoring toxicity and animal feeding studies at contract research organizations (CRO).

  • Proven track record of applying critical thinking, strategic planning, and leadership skills to successfully navigate complex technical and strategic challenges.

  • Possess excellent communication, writing and organizational skills, and the ability to work with and indirectly lead a global multidisciplinary team to accomplish goals that require the cooperation and efforts of several individuals from different work groups within the company.

  • Representation in industry associations and interaction with scientific organizations and regulatory agencies to advocate for data driven allergenicity assessment.

  • Effective management of a wide range of tasks, responding in a timely manner and adjusting and reacting quickly to changing priorities in a variety of situations.

  • Demonstrated experience in documentation, writing and reviewing protocols, high-quality technical reports, and position papers.

  • Process oriented, with strong attention to detail and adherence to procedures and processes.

  • Management of work in a GLP environment.

  • Ability to travel up to 10%, domestically and internationally.
