We are looking for a Geneticist (Scientist I) to join our Agricultural Solutions team in Research Triangle Park, NC (RTP).

Within BASF seed and Traits R&D, the RTP Crop Genetics team supports the cotton and soybean breeding teams with genotyping and molecular genetic information, from native trait discovery to variety development. We are currently seeking a Scientist with an analytical mindset and attention to detail to join our group at our site in RTP, NC. The Scientist will work with Senior Scientists, labs, informatic teams and breeding staff to implement projects for native trait discovery and implementation towards development of BASF cotton and soybean varieties.
As a Geneticist, you create chemistry by...
Implementing workflow-based operations for marker-assisted selection and genotype data processing.
Ensuring that the molecular breeding repositories are kept up to date
Applying advanced data analysis pipelines and draw clear conclusions under supervision and independently
Interacting with various partners (lab, breeding, discovery breeding) to execute projects on defined timelines
Assisting the team in the development and testing of new markers and genotyping assays
Contributing to the development and testing of new analysis tools and workflows
Participating in plant work in a greenhouse and process materials for analysis or shipment to other BASF sites
You are a recognized role model in understanding and complying with company standards (Quality Management System, Health, Safety, Biosafety, Stewardship, …)

If you have...
Masters or a PhD degree in Plant Biology, Genetics, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or other field of study.
Masters degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant, successful experience or PhD with no additional experience. Experience in the field of analysis or development of genetic markers is a plus.
Good knowledge and understanding of genetic analyses, and high-density genotype data management
Knowledge of cotton and/or soybean genetics/genomics is a plus.
Work accurately and are flexible to meet tight deadlines.
Self-organized, have very good planning and reporting skills, innovative
Team player: able to integrate in various project teams; self-leadership.
Excels at engaging internal and external stakeholders, effectively managing communication and change within a complex, matrix organization.
Effective and proactive communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written English.
Experience with R-studio and command-line analyses a plus
