As a Global Operational Excellence Manager, you will be part of the Global Performance Management team (APT/P) within BASF Crop Protection, which is an integral part of Global Operations. This team is responsible for defining, establishing, and reporting efficiency-related targets for the global manufacturing plants within BASF’s Crop Protection Division. APT/P enables intelligent and transparent financial decision-making through conceptual analysis with a global focus. The Global Performance Management team is also tasked with implementing a highly effective Operational Excellence structure within the global manufacturing network, including Active Ingredients, Formulations, Seeds & Traits, and Vegetable Seeds. Relying on your ability to lead and influence others, develop strategies and concepts that support our cultural transformation and present them to senior management for endorsement.
Implement all elements of our comprehensive Continuous Improvement program (‘LEAN Forward’) to enhance cross-regional competencies.
Demonstrate entrepreneurial drive by identifying improvement potentials and ensuring the cross-regional transfer and implementation of best practices.
Travel and communicate internationally as needed to support collaboration and initiatives.
Collaborate within corporate functions, showcasing knowledge of Lean concepts, including waste elimination, SMED, 5S, visual management, process mapping, production leveling, one-piece flow, mistake-proofing, and Asset Effectiveness.
Facilitate cross-functional improvement events (such as Kaizen, SMED, and Root Cause Analysis) as required.
Lead a virtual team of experts to determine the allocation of Capital Expenditures for Operational Excellence and track and report on spending.
Oversee the initiative to implement a continuous improvement culture and organization for our active ingredient manufacturing sites in North America, ensuring accountability for your work, projects, and future objectives to the North American VP of Operations.
If you...
Possess a Master’s degree in chemistry or engineering (preferably in chemical engineering).
Demonstrate the ability to conceptually develop an Operational Excellence program that is meaningful on the production level.
Have a minimum of 8 years of experience in chemical manufacturing with a proven track record in the optimization of production processes and procedures.
Hold a certification in LeanSixSigma and have excellent knowledge of other continuous improvement methodologies, particularly SMED, Asset Effectiveness, and batch process optimization.
Exhibit proven ability to communicate with manufacturing colleagues on four continents to understand requirements, provide knowledge-based guidance, and convince sites of the validity of stretch targets.
Show knowledge of the value chain within the business of agricultural solutions as an attribute.
