We are looking for a Seeds R&D Digital Product Owner to join our Agricultural Solutions team in Research Triangle Park, NC.

We are seeking a professional to join our team as a Seeds R&D Digital Product Owner. In this role, you operate within an international team to enable BASF scientists, breeders, and regulatory specialists to make quicker and more accurate data-driven decisions, as well as to comply with all legal, regulatory, and stewardship requirements. The digital PO will provide cross-functional and integrated informatics solutions to accelerate product development and strengthen BASF’s competitive advantage in the seeds business. Your work will contribute to BASF’s innovative Seeds and Traits to help farmers sustainably feed and clothe the world - the biggest job on earth.

As a Seeds R&D Digital Product Owner, you create chemistry by...

  • Being the Product Owner for multiple R&D applications used by different business functions.

  • Being in regular dialogue with the product family manager, who brings in the vision of our overall Seeds Digital Roadmap.

  • Collaborating in a digital product team with business representatives that gather requirements and perform functional analysis, as well as change management with the user community.

  • Utilizing the combination of your science education and your digital expertise to drive forward innovative solutions for R&D. This could include your involvement or leadership of cross-functional projects, for instance for solution design.

  • Defining the product vision together with the product manager and project team and ensure that the product is continually improved according to prioritized business requirements.

  • Ensuring the product maintenance and lifecycle management.

  • Leading an agile/scrum development team proceeding from technical analysis and design to implementation, user test, and rollout - either in house or with an external partner.

  • Providing the development team with user stories based upon the gathered requirements.

  • Managing relationships with any external partners and vendors upon which the product depends.

  • Being part of the global product owner community, where you contribute to the overall vision of the digital landscape, and address interdependencies between products.

If you...

  • Have a Master’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a PhD, in a relevant field of digital life science.

  • Have hands-on experience in agile project management and the usage of scrum with DevOps teams for implementation.

  • Understand business needs/demands & define business requirements at a product level.

  • Demonstrate excellent collaboration and communication skills, and the ability to work within global and diverse teams as well as with external partners and vendors where appropriate.

  • Possess digital mindset and your passion for improving processes enables you to think out of the box as you design solutions in teamwork.

  • Have knowledge and experience in fields relevant for plant biotechnology such as genetics, molecular analysis, trait and gene discovery, bioinformatics, breeding, lab data management, and/or field/greenhouse trials would be a plus.

  • Experience with subject matter relating to License to Operate (LTO), including legal, regulatory, and stewardship requirements, as well as Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), is a plus.

  • Have knowledge of software architecture or data modelling is a plus.

  • Are able to travel up to 5%, domestically and internationally
