Microsoft has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer in the Secure Cloud Access team. This team is responsible for deploying and operating services that enable secure connectivity to clouds, including sovereign and air gapped clouds.
Secure Cloud Access accelerates and simplifies the onboarding and connectivity to sensitive mission workloads. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to add to our growing team building out several new Microsoft products. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with engineers who enable a broad set of Azure services to be consumed by internal and external customers in highly secured and regulated industries. The systems and software you build will be required to meet the security policy and assurance requirements of both public and private sector customers.

Responsibilities
Design, produce and deliver software to improve the reliability, scalability, performance, security, efficiency, etc. of a service, having independence, sense of ownership and drive for areas of ownership
Participate actively in code reviews, bug/issue triage with the feature teams, and support well informed decisions towards business and engineering goals
Contribute to fixing, enhancing, and supporting our services in production, including periodic on-call duties where necessary
Ensuring that design empowers other developers to achieve more, while effectively leveraging components developed by other teams
Driving features, projects, and open-ended problems towards resolution
Take initiative to identify and fix bottlenecks, proactively come up with the proposals for further improvements of the system, process and owned functionality
Contribute to operations of live service. Implements solutions and mitigations to more complex issues impacting performance or functionality of Live Site service and escalates as necessary.
Review and lead postmortem discussions sharing insights with the team for continual improvement

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
OR equivalent experience.

The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Security Clearance. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.
Clearance Verification : This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.
Microsoft Cloud Background Check : This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customer and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via a valid passport, or other approved documents, or verified US government Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to C++, C#, Java
OR equivalent experience.
Experience working on large-scale distributed services with on-call responsibilities
Proficiency with TypeScript or JavaScript
Experience with modern front-end frameworks such as React or Vue
Outstanding technical problem-solving and debugging skills
Passion for quality with experience designing and implementing automated tests, including unit tests and integration tests
Effective communication skills
Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
