In this role, you will collaborate with engineers to enable a broad set of Azure services for internal customers in both Air Gapped and Commercial environments. The systems and software you build will meet the security policy and assurance requirements of both public and private sector customers. Responsibilities
Develop cutting-edge software solutions that enhance the Azure foundational platform, ensuring it remains robust and scalable to support customer workloads.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain innovative features based on customer feedback and requirements.
Apply debugging tools and examine logs, telemetry, and other methods to proactively identify and resolve issues, ensuring high-quality and reliable software.
Conduct retrospective debugging of solutions to identify root causes of problems and implement improvements.
Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guide other engineers by developing and following the playbook, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions. Alert stakeholders as to status and initiate actions to restore system/product/service for simple problems and complex problems when appropriate. Respond within Service Level Agreement (SLA) timeframe. Drive efforts to reduce incident volume, looking globally at incidences and providing broad resolutions. Escalate issues to appropriate owners.
Drive efforts to integrate instrumentation for gathering telemetry data on system behavior such as performance, reliability, availability, usage, and safety mechanisms. Drive sustaining feedback loops from telemetry resulting in subsequent designs. Create outputs of telemetry such as notifications or dashboards.
Drive efforts to collect, classify, and analyze data on a range of metrics (e.g., health of the system, where bugs might be occurring). Drive the refinement of products through data analytics and make informed decisions in engineering products through data integration.
Build, enhance, reuse, contribute to, and identify new software developer tools to support other programs and applications to create, debug, and maintain code for products. Use open source when possible. Begin to develop skills in other tools outside areas of expertise. Identify internal tools and create tools that will be useful for creating the product, determining if methods are still applicable for the current solution. Share best practices and teach others about new tools and strategies.
Define and develop standardized, repeatable, scalable solutions to guarantee quality.
Work on Data Governance and Audit Logging solutions, integrating AI/ML to detect and prevent data leakage.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
OR equivalent experience.

Security Clearance Requirements: Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Candidates must have an active TS/SCI and be willing to upgrade to TS/SCI (with polygraph). This role will require candidates to maintain the TS/SCI (with polygraph) clearance. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.
Clearance Verification : This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customer and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. Preferred/Additional Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
OR equivalent experience
Demonstrated coding design skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of data structures, algorithms, asynchronous architectures and distributed algorithms.
Experience in concurrency, multithreading and synchronization is a plus.
Knowledge of distributed systems is a plus.
Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
