Amentum Safety Culture Program Specialist in Richland, Washington

As the Safety Culture Program Specialist, you will assist the Safety Culture Manager in supporting implementation of WTCC Safety Culture improvement and the WTCC Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) improvement actions, assessments and annual reports. Specific responsibilities include preparation and assessments in support of the VPP Self-Assessment and Department of Energy (DOE) VPP Assessment; drafting the annual VPP report to DOE; coordinating companywide Voluntary Protection Program initiatives, activities, and campaigns; participation in the WTCC safety councils, committees and teams supporting worker safety and health needs; participating in pre-task and safety meetings; and proactively assisting in the development of safety campaigns. This position also maintains current knowledge of specific government agency requirements and exhibits knowledge and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of an effective safety culture. Active participation in safety culture discussions supports the efforts of the safety culture improvement team to build positive relationships across safety teams and positively impact overall safety culture program planning, operations, and communication.

This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS

  • Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work in order to protect self, others, and the environment.

  • Perform preparation and assessments in support of the VPP Self-Assessment and DOE VPP Assessment.

  • Draft the annual VPP report to DOE.

  • Coordinate companywide Voluntary Protection Program initiatives, activities, and campaigns.

  • Support the VPP liaison interface with DOE; may represent the site on the Hanford VPP Champions committee.

  • Assist with planning safety campaigns.

  • Active participation on safety committees.

  • Support the Safety Culture Manager.

  • Ensure effective communication of safety topics.

  • Build relationships across the organization.

Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience supporting safety culture or VPP activities

  • Experience in a nuclear, heavy construction, chemical processing or petroleum refining environment is desired

  • Possesses basic knowledge of office software systems (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat Pro).

  • Designation as a VPP Special Government Employee is highly preferred.

  • Prior work experience in a prior Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) VPP Star Site highly preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

(EFNM) Exposed Field Non-Manual

Performs desk work, including writing, computer workstation processes, and telephone operation. Arranges for and/or performs presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal contacts, requiring long periods of sitting. Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of personal protective equipment. Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity.

This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Must be able to work in the United States without Sponsorship

Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy (DOE) badge for access to the Hanford site .

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $76,393.70 - $114,972.97 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
