This position works out of our Richmond, IN location in the Abbott Nutrition division. Our nutrition business develops science-based nutrition products for people of all ages, from helping babies and children grow to keeping adult bodies strong and active. As the Technical Services Manager , you’ll have the chance to oversee the maintenance excellence and engineering programs to ensure plant equipment, systems, and fixed assets are maintained to high standards of safety, quality, and productivity at minimal cost, while complying with regulatory requirements

What You’ll Work On

  • Act as a project engineer for maintenance and other engineering projects.

  • Review and approve project designs for correct application.

  • Act as the site subject matter expert on Vision Control Program and Management of Change.

  • Manage the manufacturing operation data systems, including hardware and software (e.g., OSI PI, Ignition, ZPI data servers, Kepware, PTC, industrial IIoT, SPC).

  • Maintain and upgrade manufacturing systems (PLCs, computers, software) to ensure serviceability and compliance with current software revisions.

  • Serve as a technical resource and provide electrical, mechanical, and instrument maintenance support as needed.

  • Oversee the calibration program, ensuring timely and accurate instrument calibrations.

  • Manage the plant engineering budget and personnel to meet production goals and financial objectives.

  • Contribute to long-term business and organizational strategies.

  • Coordinate procurement of equipment and services, leveraging and managing suppliers effectively.

  • Coordinate the site Capital Program and maintain a rolling 3-year strategy/plan.

  • Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and data collection for data-driven decision-making.

  • Identify and mitigate risks through risk assessments and fallback strategies.

  • Guide external software programmers on plant systems and standards.

  • Plan and coordinate the annual plant-wide maintenance window

  • Provide direction for Plant Maintenance on electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical matters.

  • Establish and maintain networks and relationships with colleagues, customers, contractors, and vendors.

  • Train electricians and instrument technicians.

  • Mentor and guide team members, providing feedback and support.

  • Define roles and responsibilities and direct internal and external resources.

  • Benchmark with other sites and corporate experts.

You’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.

Pay and Shift

This is a salaried position working Monday through Friday on day shift. This roles supports a 24/5 manufacturing site and may be required to provide after-hours, on-call support as well as flexibility in hours which may include weekends.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field

  • 2+ years of leadership experience

  • Strong knowledge and expertise in Injection Molding or related field

  • Expertise in instrumentation and electrical devices.

  • Strong communication, technical, and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • B.S. in Engineering in Mechanical, Material Science or Plastics

  • 5+ years of leadership experience

  • Formal project management and strategic planning experience

  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for a FDA regulated / food manufacturing environment

  • Knowledge of complex assembly equipment and PLC Programming

The base pay for this position is $97,300.00 – $194,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
