Ford Motor Company Principal Network Systems Engineer in Richmond, Virginia

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to lead 5G network deployment and infrastructure projects across Ford’s North American plants. This role will focus on enabling real-:me connec:vity, enhancing data flow, and suppor:ng Ford’s digital transformation efforts.

What you'll do
Lead the design, deployment, and op:miza:on of 5G network infrastructure across manufacturing facilities.
Collaborate with IT, plant operations, and external vendors to ensure seamless integra:on of 5G systems.
Analyze connec:vity requirements to develop robust, scalable network solutions.
Oversee the deployment and testing of 5G equipment, ensuring reliability and performance.
Integrate IoT devices and edge compu:ng systems with 5G networks to enhance factory processes.
Develop best prac:ces and documentation for 5G network deployment and maintenance.
Monitor and troubleshoot network performance to address connec:vity challenges proac:vely.
Stay informed about advancements in 5G technology and recommend solu:ons to improve factory operations.
Minimum Qualifications
10+ years of experience in telecommunications, network engineering, or related fields.
Proven expertise in 5G network design, deployment, and maintenance.
Strong understanding of network protocols, architecture, and infrastructure planning.
Experience integrating IoT devices and real-:me data systems with wireless networks.
Track record of leading cross-func:onal projects and working with external vendors.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience deploying networks in manufacturing environments.
Knowledge of industrial IoT (IIoT) and edge computing solu:ons.
Familiarity with so[ware-defined networking (SDN) or network func:on virtualization (NFV).
Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent.
