Position summary:
The Corrosion Technician will safely perform compliance surveys, inspections, documentation, repairs and installation of corrosion prevention equipment on BHE natural gas pipeline system.
Pay Range:$31.56 - $47.24 (This posting includes the full pay range for this position. Pay is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.)
Reporting Relationship:Gas Operations Supervisor
Location:Riverton, Wyoming
Essential Functions:
• Conduct internal and external corrosion testing on steel piping to maintain compliance required timelines.
• Support internal and external control programs through specific corrosion task.
• Analyze and evaluate corrosion compliance survey results and make recommendation to correct abnormalities.
• Prepare and submit compliance records for surveys, testing of all CP systems to include rectifier maintenance, ground beds and other mitigation equipment related to corrosion work in a timely manner.
• Test, adjust, troubleshoot and maintain all test leads, rectifiers, ground beds, and other corrosion mitigation equipment.
• Give technical support including diagnosing problems, training, etc.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Work with and/or oversee third party contractors for the installation of cathodic protection systems related equipment such as deep well anode beds, RMU installs or AC mitigation systems.
• Coordinate with local staff during construction planning efforts.
• Interact with regulatory agencies during audit activities.
What Is Required:
• High School Diploma.
• Minimum of 3 three years corrosion or natural gas systems experience.
• Must have a valid Driver's License along with safe driving record.
• NACE Certification CP 2, CP 3 and CP4.
What Is Desired:
• NACE Certification CP 1 within 1-1/2 Yrs
• PC knowledge and applicable software including Microsoft Office Applications.
• Use, operate and navigation of Pipeline Compliance System (PCS) Software for compliance timelines.
• Complete recordkeeping associated with corrosion compliance activities to ensure that work done is accounted for properly and accurately to be maintained for future reference.
• Ability to effectively communicate and cooperate with coworkers.
• Basic knowledge and willingness to fully learn principles of corrosion and remediation of steel pipe needs for the different types of corrosion.
• Conduct internal/external corrosion testing on steel piping.
• Prepare and submit compliance records for surveys, testing of all CP systems to include, rectifiers, ground beds and other mitigation related to corrosion testing.
• Test, adjust, troubleshoot and maintain all test leads, rectifiers, ground beds and other corrosion mitigation equipment.
• Maintain internal RMU's (Remote Monitoring Unit) on steel piping systems in required areas.
