This non-exempt position pays $12.00 per hour and allows for a maximum of twenty hours of work per week. Work hours are flexible within our business hours of 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, to accommodate classes and other activities.
Position Summary
This internship is a professional development experience for a student who wishes to gain professional skills and experience in electrical utility engineering. The work will be heavily weighted to engineering activities combined with some other business activities.
Primary Responsibilities
All duties as assigned within the parameters of all applicable federal, state, and local labor and safety laws and/or regulations.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Become familiar with the innerworkings of electrical utility engineering and the basis within an electric cooperative
- Generate reports based on various data
- May support working on special engineering projects or activities
- May support operations department with special projects or activities
- Perform other related duties, as assigned
Minimum Requirements
Must be available to work a maximum of 20 hours per week as assigned. Currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor's program in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Coursework or projects should show understanding of engineering principles, especially in electrical systems, power distribution, or renewable energy. Must possess strong and effective communication skills (both written and verbal) to work with engineers, teams, and other departments. Ability to collect, read and analyze statistical data and interpret general industry and business procedures. Ability to work independently and collaboratively on technical projects. Must be capable of learning industry information, concepts, and regulatory requirements to support effective and compliant communications. Proficiency with basic engineering software, such as AutoCAD or similar drafting tools. Demonstrated commitment to learning and professional growth within the engineering field. Valid Texas Class C Driver's License.
Preferred Requirements
Proficiency with basic engineering software or ability to learn. A basic understanding of power systems, including generation, transmission, and distribution concepts, is a plus. Experience with database and spreadsheets.
