Description We are offering a long term contract employment opportunity for an Accountant 1 in the industry located in Rochester, New York, United States. The Accountant 1 will be integral in handling and recording daily financial transactions, managing accounts receivable, and enhancing department efficiency through process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Accurately record daily financial transactions including cash, check, and credit card receipts.

• Manage monthly billing and collection processes for operations.

• Liaise with customers regarding past due balances and rectify bounced checks.

• Handle escalations related to fare media (bus pass).

• Contribute to the preparation of journal entries for month-end and year-end closing.

• Assist in managing fixed assets.

• Collaborate in conducting bank reconciliations.

• Participate in the documentation of procedures.

• Aid in researching and implementing process improvements to enhance department efficiency.

• Undertake any other duties as assigned. Requirements • Proficiency in Documentation, ensuring all accounting processes are accurately recorded and filed.

• Experience in Operations, specifically managing and overseeing the daily operations of an accounting department.

• Familiarity with Procedures, especially the establishment and implementation of accounting procedures.

• Expertise in managing Accounts Receivable (AR), including invoicing, payment processing, and overdue account tracking.

• Understanding of Pricing strategies and their impact on the company's bottom line.

• Experience in Check Processing, ensuring all payments are processed accurately and on time.

• Ability to manage Collection Processes, including the resolution of any issues related to overdue payments.

• Proven experience with Deposits and Bank Reconciliations, ensuring all financial transactions align with bank statements.

• Knowledge of Media-related accounting, including budgeting and financial reporting within the media industry.

• Skills in Process Improvement, specifically identifying areas of improvement within accounting processes.

• Strong Research Analysis skills, particularly in analyzing financial data and reports.

• Experience in managing Delinquencies, ensuring all overdue accounts are addressed promptly.

• Familiarity with Fixed Assets, including their tracking, depreciation, and disposal.

• Experience in Daily Deposit operations, ensuring all cash receipts are deposited promptly.

• Ability to manage Year-end Close procedures, including the preparation of year-end financial statements and tax returns.

• Proficiency in preparing Journal Entries, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded.

• Experience in Monthly Billing, including the preparation and issuance of invoices and account statements.

• Familiarity with Credit Card Receipts, including their processing and reconciliation.

• Proficiency in using Lawson software for various accounting functions.

• Overall understanding and experience in various Accounting Functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, and auditing.
