Description
The Del Monte Institute for Neuroscience and the Department of Neuroscience at the University of Rochester seeks to fill a full-time faculty position for a licensed psychologist. This person will have extensive experience in assessing individuals with developmental disabilities.
Research and Patient Care
The successful candidate will work closely with University faculty to provide high quality phenotyping and clinical assessment services, along with comprehensive resources for research design consultation, subject recruitment, and investigator training. We are seeking a candidate who can participate, as part of an interdisciplinary team, in the evaluation and treatment of children with intellectual and developmental disorders and participate in one or more other clinical services (diagnostic evaluation of children suspected of having autism spectrum disorder, behavioral assessment and intervention to children with developmental disabilities co-occurring emotional and behavior disorders, parent-mediated behavior management, cognitive behavioral treatment modalities).
Assessment and treatment are provided within a family-and patient-centered care model that includes collaboration with school and community providers for continuity of care across systems. Diagnostics integrate information from family, school, community providers and on-site assessment to determine the presence or absence of autism spectrum disorders and co-existing conditions. An ideal candidate would be trained in the diagnosis of children and youth with autism spectrum disorders, including clinical use of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule to support diagnostic evaluation.
This individual will also serve as a site clinician when subjects trauma-informed trigger alerts.
Participation in the Academic Mission
The applicant will be encouraged to participate in scholarly activities, as evidenced by the publication of clinical investigations or clinical observations, reviews, and chapters and the review of manuscripts. The position may include clinical assessment of research participants as a collaborator with other faculty.
Teaching
We anticipate that part of the applicant’s clinical and research time will be devoted to the supervision and training of psychology trainees in the clinical setting and the supervision of masters-level clinicians and psychometrists. We anticipate that the applicant will contribute to ongoing program development and evaluation.
Administrative
All faculty serve as consultants to other faculty and community physicians. Faculty are expected to be academically current in the field through continuing education, literature, and seminars and complete the continuing education necessary for URMC credentialling. Faculty may be assigned to divisional, departmental, or faculty committees. Participation in local or regional clinical affairs through membership in clinical societies or specialty governing boards is encouraged.
Qualifications
A Doctorate in Counselor Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or a closely related field.
Eligible for licensure in New York is preferred.
Particular consideration will be given to individuals whose work is relevant to the domain of intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

The referenced pay range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the base range of compensation for this faculty position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries. Alignment of clinical incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
