FIFCO USA Brew Supervisor in Rochester, New York

JOB SUMMARY

The Brewing Supervisor is responsible for oversight and direction of brewing operations during one of three shifts in a 24-hour operation. You will be responsible for cold-side planning and coordination of the entire brewing process. The supervisor is responsible for managing, mentoring, and coaching staff; scheduling beer filtration runs; ensuring adequate raw materials are available; and making sure the brewery’s equipment is working correctly. This position leads and participates as an experienced member on a variety of teams, both within and between departments, representing the brewing and operations teams and functions to contribute ideas and direction as needed for planning, execution, and reporting in all related areas supporting brewery objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that all safety, quality, and GMP standards are being met.

  • Plan and coordinate day-to-day brewing production activities to meet a dynamic and fast-paced packaging schedule.

  • Supervise and coach brewing operators, packaging operators, quality technicians, and maintenance technicians on the brewing process and through troubleshooting efforts.

  • Schedule filtration runs, monitor performance to all brewing production schedules, and quickly adapt the schedules to meet changing production needs and overcome production issues.

  • Maintain cold block ingredient inventory, work with Purchasing to order ingredients, and monitor quality of incoming ingredients and ingredients in storage.

  • Monitor and control beer inventory and ensure all production reporting submitted to the Brewing Administrator is accurate and timely.

  • Monitor analytics of beer production and modify production parameters as needed to ensure quality specifications are met.

  • Taste product throughout the brewing process to ensure sensory specifications are met and release finished beer tanks to packaging.

  • Schedule all cleaning efforts (both process and environmental) and ensure cleaning standards are being met.

  • Enforce and adhere to all GMP’s and PPE requirements.

  • Write maintenance work orders, assist with scheduling maintenance activities, and lead troubleshooting efforts.

  • Work with Brewing Administrator on weekly labor schedule, annual vacation schedule, scheduling overtime in accordance with company and union rules, and approving coworker’s time cards.

  • Participate in beer/FMB innovation process and integrate new products into brewery control systems when launched.

  • Supervise brewing operators: follow up on job performance, train and develop new operators, assist with hiring new operators, educate and inform operators on department performance and overall business performance, and ensure two-way communication between all operators and all departments of the brewery.

  • Write and update SOP’s for all processes within the Brewing Department.

  • Develop, test, and implement new processes to improve safety, quality, and productivity.

  • Participate in KPI reviews, facilitate data collection/analysis for troubleshooting, and work with operators to drive KPI improvements.

  • Conduct safety training, demonstrate safe working practices, and follow up on safety incidents to prevent future issues.

EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent; bachelor’s degree or certificate from accredited brewing science school preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing operations required; brewing experience is preferred.

  • Supervisory experience is preferred.

  • High school level math, science, and oral/written communication skills.

  • Basic Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to frequently walk, climb stairs, and travel throughout the plant.

  • Must be able to work in various conditions such as loud, wet, damp, cool, hot and humid.

  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary range for this position is $67,300 – 100,900/year, not including benefits or potential bonuses. If you are hired at FIFCO USA, your base salary will be determined based on factors such as individual skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. In addition, we also believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to enable future & continued salary growth. We also offer a generous benefits package!
