Function of Position:

The Coordinator of Academic and Student Affairs (ASA) Operations reports to the Director of Strategic Operations and provides expertise and support for Academic and Student Affairs and Economic & Workforce Development & Career Technical Education (EDIWS) Division in the areas of short- and long-term planning, space and facilities, operations, budgeting, and faculty workload management. This position plays a critical role in ensuring efficient and effective operations that support student success and faculty engagement. The Coordinator collaborates with academic deans, directors, department chairs, faculty, service departments, external agencies, and other college administrators in planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and services essential to the college's mission.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

ASA Facilities and Operations and Space Utilization:

  • Maintain and analyze space utilization data to inform decisions for the Master Schedule, Master Plan, offices, and operations.
  • Serve as a liaison to Administrative Services for facilities planning, including construction, renovation, and modifications.
  • Develop and manage equipment and space priorities for approval by the Provost or college-wide committees.

Budgeting and Financial Planning and Oversight:

  • Assist with the development and management of budgets for ASA and EDIWS, including space and equipment needs.
  • Provide recommendations for large equipment funds, construction projects, and operational priorities.
  • Review and advise on grant applications that include equipment, construction, or renovation elements.
  • Maintain and utilize financial reports from systems such as Banner to support operational decision-making.
  • Advise on budget implications of curriculum development and program revisions.

Faculty Workload Management and Oversight:

  • Oversee faculty workload assignments and ensure compliance with institutional policies and agreements.
  • Collaborate with academic deans and department chairs to resolve workload discrepancies or issues.
  • Manage workload data and reporting to ensure accurate and equitable faculty compensation.

Other Areas:

  • Identify and implement strategies to streamline workload management processes.
  • Provide training and support to academic leadership on workload policies and systems.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in data manipulation and report generation from systems such as Banner.
  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., data analysis, pivot tables, macros).
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams.
  • Commitment to the philosophy of the comprehensive community college.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Experience with facilities planning and space utilization.
  • Experience with developing and maintaining classroom technology.
  • Experience with faculty workload systems and policies.
  • Experience in budget development and financial analysis.
  • Experience in facilities planning, space utilization, or classroom technology.
  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish or other languages proficiently.


Additional Information:

Salary: Salary is determined based on experience, internal equity, and college budget. This position has a range of $52,000 to $59,000 and is based on these mentioned factors.

MCC offers a Flexible Work Policy for benefit eligible employees. Types of flexible work arrangements include flextime/staggered shifts, remote work/telecommuting and compressed work schedule.
