Summary:
Supports the Human Resources department with handling mid-level human resources functions and programs including the areas of the hourly plant employment, recruitment, benefits administration, leave administration and workers’ compensation claims, training, etc. Provides information and assistance to employees regarding human resources activities, relations, processes, policies, and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
FMLA, WC, DBL, and personal leave administration
Conduct new hire orientations (including benefits)
Deliver appropriate training to new managers
Conduct exit interviews for hourly, plant positions
Respond to unemployment inquiries
Responsible for interviewing and offer process for hourly positions
Attend daily production meetings, monthly town hall meetings for both facilities
Participant in job fairs
Assist with HR Department/Company events/projects as needed
Remain current on changes/updates to applicable employment laws and regulations
Backfill for HRA or HRM, as needed
Handle employee relations for plant hourly employees
Report food safety & quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action
Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree and/or 3+ years of HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Fluent in Spanish is a plus
Ability to flex hours to service multiple populations
PHR certification preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with high experience in word and excel
Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills
Local, State, and Federal Employment Law knowledge
Experience in Leave Management
Strong attention to detail, organizational, time management, and task prioritization skills
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle highly sensitive information
Working Conditions:
Regularly required to sit, use hands
Occasionally need to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, with a potential of up to 25 pounds
Sedentary office environment
Occasional exposure to manufacturing plant floor requiring the use of personal protective equipment (ear plugs, safety glasses, bump cap, skid-resistant leather shoes, etc.)
Must follow Good Manufacturing Practice (hair net, no jewelry, no fake nails or eyelashes, no food/drink, gum, etc. in manufacturing Plant)
