$77,216.00 - $115,824.00
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Provides design, implementation and operational support for organizational networks, including LAN/WAN, backbone/data center infrastructures and network related services.

Provides design, implementation and operational support for organizational networks, including LAN/WAN, backbone/data center infrastructures and network related services.
Responsibilites:
Develops design specifications for network topologies, electronics and distribution systems from general requirements. May also develop cabling specifcations based on assigned area or function. Develops physical or virtual segmentation schemes to satisfy various connectivity requirements. Develops, documents and implements standards for all network components.
Specifies and implements network management systems, both physical and logical. Configures and deploys network management tools to monitor network capacity and maximize network availability.
Directs the activities of assigned staff using approved project plans, contributing to the development of those plans. Trains and orients others on the team. Provides input to the budget process.
Provides technical expertise and guidance to ensure optimum efficiency and program progress. Assists in the development of policies and procedures and ensures that documentation is kept current and complete.
Translates project phases into discrete work orders for execution by subcontractors, when applicable. Produces bills-of-material as required by construction activities. Produces itemized project cost estimates including labor and materials when needed.
Performs troubleshooting as required to identify root cause for any business impacting events.
Provides on-call coverage to service network interruptions, escalates when appropriate. Documents network cable plant and maintains an inventory of network components throughout entire network infrastructure.
Participates in department or user initiated quality improvement projects and works to build value for the organization. Attends technical classes or seminars and reads technical journals appropriate to maintaining skill proficiency.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Bachelor's degree in related discipline such as Computer Science, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Science, Telecommunications or Engineering (preferred)
4 years of related experience
or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience working with large enterprise-wide LAN/WAN environments in a University or Hospital setting (preferred)
Familiarity with network electronics, including optical networking concepts, routers, switches, etc.
Familiarity with network management tools, such as Intermapper, Netdisco, Cisco Prime Infrastructure, etc.
Familiarity with Ethernet concepts and network routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP
Familiarity with structured cable plant components and techniques for both fiber and copper
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Thorough knowledge of TCP/IP protocols and addressing
Familiarity with network electronics, including optical networking concepts, routers, switches, etc.
Familiarity with network management tools, such as Intermapper, Netdisco, Cisco Prime Infrastructure, etc.
