Printing & Inserting Machine Maintenance Technician

Reports to: Department Manager

Location: Rochester

Full-Time: A typical work schedule is standard business hours, with the flexibility required to handle escalations or support during peak times or special projects.

Pay Schedule: Bi-Weekly Pay

Exempt: Compensation starts at $45,000 - $55,000 annually, depending on experience

Benefits: Begin the first day after the first two full months of employment.

Position Summary

The Printing & Inserting Machine Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of high-speed printing and inserting machines to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime. The role requires working in a fast-paced production environment, ensuring equipment is functioning efficiently to meet production schedules.

Essential Duties

  • Perform preventative maintenance on printing and inserting machines, including inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and replacements of parts.

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and technical issues to minimize downtime.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, preventative maintenance, and equipment performance logs.

  • Collaborate with production teams to identify equipment issues and suggest improvements.

  • Ensure all machines are set up and calibrated correctly for production runs.

  • Stay updated with machine manuals and technical documents for troubleshooting.

  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and company policies during maintenance tasks.

  • Order and maintain inventory of parts and tools required for repairs.

  • Assist with equipment installations, modifications, and upgrades as needed.

    Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; technical certification or relevant experience preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in machine maintenance, preferably in a printing or inserting environment.

  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret machine manuals, diagrams, and schematics.

  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.

  • Familiarity with safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures.

  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Must be able to read, write, and clearly communicate to perform essential job functions, including understanding work instructions, writing reports, and interacting with customers and colleagues.

  • Work is performed in a warehouse or production facility environment.

  • May be exposed to varying temperatures, noise, dust, and printing chemicals.

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, push 800 pounds on a load-bearing cart, carry 25 pounds, and pull 200 pounds.

  • Must be able to use hand tools, pallet jacks, and forklifts.

  • Requires frequent standing, walking, crouching, bending, kneeling, lifting, and using repetitive motions of hands or wrists; finger, grasp, handle, or feel; reach with arms and hands for extended periods.

  • Fast-paced, deadline-driven setting requiring the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
