The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

Performs research laboratory assignments, various and diversified in nature, in accordance with standard practices and procedures.

Research technician in a laboratory studying aging in humans and other mammals. For more information regarding research in the laboratory see:

Research responsibilities:

  • Duties will include performing experiments in tissue culture (30%) and molecular biology (30%), isolation of the primary cell culture from different rodent tissues (10%) and maintaining mouse and naked mole rat colonies (20%). The candidate will be trained in the necessary techniques and methods.

  • Will utilize laboratory equipment, tools and apparatus, computer and/or peripheral equipment. In accordance with the objectives of the projects will conduct technical procedures, non-routine and complex in nature. Will set-up and operate sophisticated equipment and instrumentation with latitude for modifying methods and techniques.

  • Will record, compute, and analyze data, prepare reports and makes recommendations. Prepare schematics, specifications, designs, charts, graphs, tables, illustrations, photographs; assist in preparation of materials for publication. (10%)

Qualifications:

The ideal applicant will have a BA, BS, or MSc in biology or laboratory experience. Experience in molecular or cell biology is preferred but will train a highly motivated individual.
