Actalent Controls Engineer in Rock Island, Illinois

Job Title: Controls EngineerJob Description

We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to join our team and assist in catching up on various projects. You will be working on creating new products with Servo motors and safety proc sensors. This role involves PLC coding, modifying, troubleshooting, and repairing code for various PLCs and HMIs. Additionally, you will be involved in electrical design updates, revisions, and new design work for industrial applications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on controls troubleshooting of PLCs and equipment in the shop, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

  • Collaborate with engineering, sales, and procurement departments to ensure controls projects are completed on time and within budget.

  • Assist in building complex automated systems for customers.

  • Monitor system effectiveness and provide troubleshooting support for new machine builds.

  • Repair machinery on-site as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens PLCs, and HMI programming.

  • Proficiency in electrical design and control system automation.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

  • PLC programming experience.

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in an engineering-related discipline.

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.

  • 2+ years of experience wiring PLCs from scratch, particularly Allen-Bradley (required) and Siemens (preferred).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to run own projects and help create a home-grown system for a new product line.

  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Experience in industrial applications and electrical design work.

Work Environment

The work environment is located in an industrial park and is fairly clean and quiet. You will have your own workspace to complete drawings and designs. Onsite travel is infrequent but expected.
