Actalent Principal Systems Engineer (Electrical) in Rockville, Maryland

Job Title: Systems Engineer (Electrical)Job Description

We are seeking a Systems Engineer to support the U.S. Navy's Strategic Systems Program (SSP) Office and the Trident II D5 Strategic Weapon System (SWS) program. The role involves assisting with the Navy’s development of an updated version of the Trident Missile for the Columbia submarine deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical lead for a team of approximately 40 personnel.

  • Understand technical content quickly and assist the technical lead in approving changes.

  • Utilize CAMEO system modeler and SysML for system modeling.

  • Manage requirements in DOORS and use Windchill as a tool for routing changes.

  • Perform change management evaluations, issue changes to the impacted community, adjudicate comments/changes, and work with the government on final sign-off.

  • Train staff, sign off on technical changes, and communicate during meetings to identify impacts on technical content.

  • Manage Interface Requirement Documents (ICDs) such as Fire Control and Navigation.

  • Ensure the alignment of interface documents between different groups.

  • Support meetings, including subsystem meetings, to evaluate impacts.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering, or equivalent education and work-related experience.

  • Understanding of Systems Engineering principles and basic engineering concepts.

  • Experience with Interface Control/Design Drawings.

  • Knowledge of requirements allocation and system architecture management.

  • Experience with DoD weapon systems.

  • Self-starter with excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with others.

  • Excellent organizational, planning, and follow-up skills.

  • Experience in preparing for and leading design reviews or customer meetings.

  • Proficiency with PC and MS Office Suite.

  • Experience with engineering tools/languages such as PTC Windchill, IBM DOORS, SysML, and other requirement management tools.

  • Experience with Model-Based Engineering.

  • Ability to establish strong, positive customer relationships.

  • Ability to coach and mentor employees.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Cable Running Sheets.

  • In-depth experience with modeling tools.

  • Experience within the U.S. Navy’s Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) and the TRIDENT II D5 Strategic Weapon System (SWS).

Work Environment

The position follows a hybrid work model consisting of three days in the office, two days remote, and one day flexible. The team is engaged in a long-term project with funding secured until 2084, offering stability and growth opportunities.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $95.00/hr.
