Summary:
Provides professional nursing care to patients undergoing radiology/imaging procedures. Provides patient care within the parameters of this assignment of responsibility, according to prescribed, delegated medical regimen and the hospital policies. Incumbents are accountable to the North Carolina Board of Nursing for practicing nursing within the scope of the North Carolina Nursing Practice Act.
Responsibilities:
- Performs patient assessments, formulates nursing diagnosis and develops/implements plan of care for patients undergoing procedures in the department. Performs admission assessment upon the patient’s arrival for treatment and completes nursing data base by the end of the scheduled shift. Assesses each patient from neonate to geriatric in relation to age specific needs and documents on appropriate tools. 2. Obtains, completes and/or verifies the presence of signed consent forms, nursing history, medications and pertinent symptoms through the Ulticare system and on departmental charting system. Documents and initiates appropriate short-term Plan of Care based on assessment of the patient, individualized and prioritized to specific needs of patient while in the department, including age specific needs of patient, upon completion of the assessment.3. Ensures the proper identification of patient prior to performing any care.
Accurately implements clinical and technical aspects of nursing care in accordance with prescribed policies, protocols, precautions, procedures and techniques, and only if determined competent per the position’s Skills Checklist. Administers medications safely and timely, giving consideration to age, specific patient requirements, documenting in accordance with NGH procedure for medication administration.4. Follows established procedures for the delivery of personal care. Respects and protects the patient’s privacy, dignity and cultural diversity at all times. Follows the Plan of Care with respect to the provision of personal care. 5. Sets up for treatments/procedures quickly and without assistance, and ensures the presence of necessary documents, reports, films and information.

Education Requirements:
● associate degree in nursing. Graduated of an approved nursing program.
- 1 year of experience in acute nursing setting
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
BCLS Certification
ACLS Certification
Preferred Experience Requirements:
● Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Knowledge of the field of radiology and diagnostic imaging. Strong IV skills
