State of Massachusetts Director of Re-Entry in Roslindale, Massachusetts
The Director of Reentry position works to expose male incarcerated adults enrolled in the School of Reentry at Boston Pre-Release Center to learning processes and educational experiences that will give the skill set and tools to find sustainable employment and/or continued education in order to achieve personal success and productivity. The School of Reentry is committed to and expects the Director of Reentry to work to develop working relationships with industry employers and educators geared toward creating opportunities for School of Reentry graduates. Will be responsible for running multiple groups per week in addition to one-on-one reentry planning. Responsibilities * * Provide individual and group reentry planning to assist individuals in gaining insight into their challenges and to develop plans (housing, employment, family support, social/recreational, cultural) for reentry success. * Provide case management, support and referral services before and upon release. Case management including advocacy, outreach and engagement, self-help tools, recovery supports, transitional supports, and pre-crisis/crisis supports in home or community settings. Supports may include accompanying individual to appointments when necessary. * Assist the Executive Director with grant development and research; including presentation to potential funders. * Develop and maintain relationships with program partners to deliver services and coordinate reentry plans. * Prepare and maintain student records, narrative reports, statistical reports, and other records to facilitate exchange of information. * Collaborate with School of Reentry staff, Department of Corrections (DOC), and inter-perimeter Security Tea, (IPS) and other departments as required. *Preferred Qualifications A. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Describe the critical and typical knowledge, skills and abilities you believe are necessary to perform this job at a minimally acceptable level of competence. * Highly organized person with excellent oral and written communication skills with attention to detail. * Manager who can lead, strategize and integrate information and philosophy into an operational plan. * Ability to manage multiple projects across several agencies in a fast pace moving environment. * Excellent knowledge of substance use disorder, Motivational Interviewing Techniques, and Reentry Planning. B. Experience If you were selecting a person to fill this position, what minimum background (experience and/or education) do you believe would be required? Also list any special requirements such as licenses or certificates that incumbents would have to possess at the time of hire. * Master’s degree or a Bachelor’s degree with eight to ten years of combined managerial experience in Reentry Planning, Workforce Development, Correctional Program Development and/or Social Work. * Lived carceral experience in any state can apply, experience in Massachusetts preferred. Cannot currently be on any form of supervision. Must be at least5 years from release. * In depth understanding of reentry programming and the needs of returning citizens. * Understanding of and/or personal experience with reentry needs, substance use disorder, homelessness, unemployment, and self-motivation. * Experience with delivering effective adult basic education programming/ adult learner needs. * Experience with data tracking and reporting. * Experience with grant writing and research. * Experience in a correctional environment. * Collaborate with the development and production of recruitment and promotional material required. This may include still image, video and audio recordings. * Ability to work flexible hours required. * Extensive travel throughout Massachusetts required. * Bilingual preferred * * MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) five (5) years of full-time or, equivalent part-time, professional, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, public management, clinical administration or clinical management of which (B) at least one (1) year must have been in a project management, supervisory or managerial capacity or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below. Substitutions: I. A certificate in a relevant or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required (A) experience. II. A Bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required (A) experience. III. A Graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for three (3) years of the required (A) experience. IV.
