About the Unit
The NICU is a 61 bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit which includes intermediate level beds as well. This unit provides care for severely ill newborn infants, ranging from extremely premature to post term babies. Babies typically have respiratory distress, cardiac defects, neurological problems and unstable multiple anomalies.

Scope of work
The Clinical RN Manager is an experienced leader responsible for managing assigned areas and services and supervising assigned patient care staff to promote the creation of a center of excellence for staff recruitment and retention and clinical and business outcomes. The Nurse Manager is responsible to ensure safe and effective delivery of patient care and clinical outcomes, compliance with regulatory, administrative and clinical standards, and policies and procedures. The Nurse Manager serves as a chief retention and safety officer. He/she ensures that safety and quality standards are upheld by effective use of data and technology to make decisions and proactively mitigates unnecessary risks for his/her area of responsibility. The Nurse Manager creates and ensures a desirable, safe work environment that enables the organization to meet or exceed its mission and goals. He/she models the way to foster communication and collaboration with physicians, staff, patients and other departments. Role specific competencies, responsibilities, roles and functions are based on the Professional Practice Model. This position reports to the Director of Nursing or above.AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:Under general direction, maintains 24-hour responsibility and accountability for providing leadership and management of a designated patient care unit which promotes quality nursing care, cost effective use of resources and professional growth for nursing staff. Promotes a Patient Family Centered Care Culture.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (BSN) in nursing Required.
Master's degree (MSN) Preferred.
Minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience Required.
Minimum of one year of formal nursing leadership experience required for external applicants Required.
Minimum of two years demonstrated informal leadership experience required for internal applicants, may include but not limited to: Charge Lead Nurse, Charge Nurse responsibilities, leadership on behalf of unit/site/system at Shared Governance Council, etc. Required.
MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required.
AHA or ARC Basic Life Saving (BLS) Required.
