Job Title: Production Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and flexible Production Technician to join our team for the Packaging/Conditioning season on 1st Shift. This role requires reliable transportation, strong attendance, and the ability to collaborate effectively. The position involves various duties depending on the season, including seed crop inspection, inventory management, harvesting, packaging, and maintenance work.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and process trucks hauling crop from the field for weighing and unloading.

  • Complete a wide range of harvest activities, such as husk and sort operations.

  • Operate dryer to dry crop within prescribed safety, quality, and financial requirements.

  • Shell and store crop from bins in the dryer facility.

  • Supply the Conditioning department with a constant supply of seed.

  • Apply appropriate treatment to seed.

  • Label, tag, bag, and palletize seed.

  • Enter inventory information into the computer.

  • Stage seed for shipment in the warehouse.

  • Retag in-house seed.

  • Re-bag backhaul returned seed.

  • Inspect and wash pro boxes as necessary.

Essential Skills

  • Knowledge of production agriculture and production plant operations.

  • Ability to safely perform duties in a timely fashion while maintaining seed quality.

  • Ability to work independently or with a team.

  • Ability to adjust to changing conditions and anticipate needs.

  • Ability to make independent decisions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Pass a background check and other pre-employment screenings.

  • Have reliable transportation to the site and be able to arrive at the work site as instructed.

  • Maintain enthusiasm, good attitude, honesty, and a willingness to treat all with respect.

  • Ability to work long hours and rotational shifts, including overtime as needed.

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 60 pounds, work in and outdoors, and walk on uneven surfaces.

  • Steel Toed Shoes.

  • Must NOT be colorblind.

  • Able to stand for long periods of time.

  • Ability to climb stairs at times.

  • Must be able to read English.

  • No education required.

  • Smoking and tobacco products are strictly prohibited at the site.

  • Forklift experience (nice to have).

Work Environment

The work environment involves exposure to dust and corn dust, as well as working with seed treated with insecticides. Employees must be prepared to stand on their feet for 12-hour shifts, climb stairs, and lift up to 60 lbs. The shifts are as follows: 1st Shift: 6:00AM - 2:30PM, 2nd Shift: 2:00PM - 10:30PM, 3rd Shift: 10:00PM - 6:30AM.

This is a Contract position based out of Rushville, Indiana.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $19.50
