State of Vermont Public Health Nutritionist I in Saint Albans, Vermont

Overview

The Vermont Department of Health; St. Albans District Office is looking for an energetic person to provide outreach, eligibility determination, clinical services, health and nutrition education to a large caseload of individuals enrolled in the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) supplemental nutrition program.

Much of the Public Health Nutritionists time is spent providing nutritional counseling and breastfeeding support to individuals enrolled in the WIC supplemental nutrition program. Currently this is being done over the phone, but services will also be provided in-person at our St Albans WIC clinic and other community settings in the future. Comfort using motivational interviewing in a culturally competent way is a plus. A person who is successful in this position will enjoy working with prenatal and postpartum women as well as children under the age of five. Expect to meet with nutritionally high-risk clients who will require the development of follow up plans. The position includes community outreach, education and partnership with others involved with maternal and child health populations.

This position would, with our team of nutritionists, perform outcomes-based planning and assess the effectiveness of nutrition interventions through our Nutrition Services Plan. Environmental Factors

Duties primarily performed in public health organization setting or in outlying service sites.

Travel to outlying sites will require a drivers license. Private means of transportation may be required.
