  About the Job

  The Senior Mining Engineer provides technical expertise, support, training, and leadership in reference to MLC’s mining activities across the enterprise. The Senior Mining Engineer also provides leadership of the Ste. Gen. Surveyor/Mine Planner and Mining Engineers. The Senior Mining Engineer applies core values of Operational Excellence and Sustainability in maintaining the stewardship of our deposits and businesses.

  Partner and work with operation leaders to drive changes in the organization in order to drive the business within the business units.

• Interface with other resource leaders and management to develop strategies for the business.

• Monitor and encourage communication and information transfer across all business units but focusing on deposit and mine communication to customers.

• Create a network of communication utilizing MOC and other systems of communication throughout the organization.

• Explore data to measure the impact of your changes and come up with ideas for how to maximize that impact.

  Mine Optimization, Mine Planning, and Mine Safety

• Maintain Short and Long Term mine plans in reference to safety, extraction of minerals (both Quality and volume), and work with operations to implement the plan.

• Reports extraction ratio for deposits, optimize yield of deposits, and manage gradations required for surface manufacturing sites.

• Provide mining expertise on roof and rib stability and solicit outside resources as needed for geological and geotechnical needs for deposit management.

• Regular coordination with Operations, Geology, and Survey groups to implement the weekly and monthly plan.

  People Development

• Lead Mine Planner/Surveyor and Mining engineering.

• Develop employees by providing feedback on job performance and career opportunities.

• Advise and mentor process engineers

  Requirements/ Qualifications

• Education: BS in Mining Engineering, Geology, Geological Engineering, or closely related field is required

• Ability to make engineering generalizations from one process/problem to another with minimal supervision

• Capability to independently support related areas of responsibility with minimal supervision

• Ability to effectively communicate with all functional groups and through several levels of the organization

• Ability to utilize project management and other engineering tools to optimize project execution

• Demonstrate commitment to teamwork and team-based systems

• Demonstrated leadership skills
