EMCOR Group Engineer Modeler in Salt Lake City, Utah

Description

The Modeler will report to the Engineering Department Manager and will work to set work priorities, organize workload and coordinate needed help with engineering and virtual construction.

You will also be responsible for modeling in 3D to produce complete and accurate engineering drawing documents and accountable to the Engineering Manager for project deliverables and results.

The Modeler provides guidance to Drafting Assistants assigned to projects and will work closely with the Virtual Construction team as the projects progress from design to construction. This person will receive training with the virtual construction team to maintain modeling standards and consistency throughout the design and construction process.

This individual must have a solid understanding of Mechanical and/or Plumbing Trades, the building codes regulating these, how the components operate, are installed, and how they are serviced. Be able to coordinate with other construction trades (fire protection, electrical, communications) and architectural and structural. Spatial judgment and being able to visualize mentally are necessary.

This person will be required to exercise independent judgment in evaluating, selecting and applying standard detailing and design engineering and to coordinate necessary changes with Design Leader.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES (includes but is not limited to the following) :

  • Attend site visits to verify as-built conditions and become familiar with construction work as needed.

  • Review and understand complete scope of work, project specifications, equipment submittals, and project schedule.

  • Set up and manage contract model and any required CCI federated model associated with project during the Engineering phase.

  • Maintain current plans, specifications, Revit drawings, models, equipment submittals, installation manuals and other documentation from general contractor, architect, engineer, and other subcontractors.

  • Perform drafting of mechanical and plumbing design as provided by the engineer.

  • Ongoing training with Engineering and Virtual Construction.

  • Review architectural, structural and other subcontractor drawings for coordination with mechanical systems.

  • Assist in mentoring and training Drafting Assistants.

  • Maintain positive and professional relationships with customers, subcontractors, vendors, co-workers, etc.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE :

  • Associate degree in CAD, drafting, engineering technology or bachelor’s from an accredited four-year college/university.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ construction experience.

  • Skilled with Word, Excel, Outlook and other office-oriented programs.

  • Experienced with Bluebeam

  • Very skilled with AutoCAD MEP, the Autodesk Fabrication family of programs, Revit and Navisworks.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Requires prolonged periods of sitting, reaching, bending, stooping and stretching. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate reports and documents. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds.
