Stryker Lean Leader in Salt Lake City, Utah

What You Will Do:
Engage in Lean Manufacturing projects with the key focus of driving Continuous Improvement across the site
Be a member/leader of one or more cross-functional operations teams tasked with effectively launching new product introductions and will lead process improvement projects, utilizing lean tools, that are integral to the site’s strategic growth plan
Analyze and implement lean process improvements to reduce cost and improve efficiencies
Perform and evaluate work measurement and workflow analysis for the establishment of standards and the utilization of production facilities
Partner with engineers to develop plant and equipment layout, capacity plans, workflow and accident prevention measures to maintain efficient and safe utilization of plant facilities
Provide product assembly instructions and standardize assembly practice
LEAN MANUFACTURING
Drive and support the advancement of Lean Manufacturing culture, principles and practices across the plant and work with local leadership to create and drive the Lean vision for the plant
Participate in project groups through Stryker Production System and lead kaizen events
Identify improvement opportunities and creation/initiation of project teams to achieve site goals and facilitating the removal of barriers to ensure successful outcomes
Inspire others by constantly promoting, educating, and instilling culture of identification and elimination of waste throughout the plant within manufacturing areas and also in support / transactional areas
Ensure that Lean activities and projects are linked such that the entire value stream is addressed, and maximum benefit is extracted from Lean activities
Ensure that Value Stream Maps are accurate and up to date and they are being leveraged to drive organizational change
Assist in developing a road map for lean on-site, with key site goals and timelines
Lead, coach and mentor project groups through Stryker Production system initiatives
Develop and Implement a range of Lean and Industrial Engineering tools to improve overall performance and reduce costs
Develop and deliver training programs on site
Foster a strong working relationship with the central Continuous Improvement team
Liaise with EH&S Department to ensure improvements through Lean activity are assessed ergonomically and are aligned with EH&S continuous improvement goals
ENGINEERING STANDARDS & CAPACITY PLANNING
Establish standard times through work measurement
Prepare and present engineering standard data in line with corporate guidelines
Work with Finance to manage the annual update of the Engineering Standard Times for the site
Conduct Production capacity analysis and provide input to the integrated business planning process
Develop Capacity scenarios to assist Operations in identifying suitable flexing strategies
Assist Operations in headcount planning
Provide support to manufacturing as required to meet the business targets and Objectives
SPATIAL PLANNING & OPTIMIZATION
Work with Process Development, Production, Facilities and Manufacturing Engineering teams to lead facility/line layout design and implementation projects
Review requests for changes to facility layouts and propose options for review/ approval
Ensure that plant layout drawings are correct and up to date at all times and that "free space" is created strategically to allow for improved flow and/or provision for new/additional production lines to support increased volume & new product introduction
Optimize existing space utilization and provide input into the site spatial strategy
Develop and maintain a site spatial strategy
What You Need:
Bachelors degree
2+ years relevant Lean, Operations or Industrial Engineering experience
1-2 yrs Medical device environment preferred
Experience creating and executing Lean plans in assigned areas
Extensive knowledge and application of Lean/IE tools and methods
Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional project teams utilizing sound project management skills
Demonstrated ability to build trust with others and leverage resources to accomplish tasks and deliver results
Demonstrated ability to coach/mentor others on Lean Manufacturing concepts
Experience in CAD packages
