ARUP Laboratories in Salt Lake City, Utah is hiring for full-time Medical Laboratory Scientist II NYQ - 3 openings. The Medical Laboratory Scientist II NYQ in the Parasitology/Fecal Testing laboratory will provide services of a technical nature for automated, semi-automated, and manual testing to detect a variety of infectious diseases. Will perform routine and complex lab tests to provide physicians with rapid and accurate results; will participate in preparing specimens for processing; perform waived, moderate, and highly complex analytical processes; establish, perform, and document quality assurance, quality control, and equipment maintenance; confirm and verify results through in- depth knowledge of techniques, principles, and instruments; correlate and interpret data based on knowledge of factors affecting test results; data handling and input. Testing within the department includes Ova & Parasite Exam, Parasitology Stains including Microsporidium and Modified-Acid Fast, Free-Living Amoeba culture, Ecto parasite examination, Strongyloides culture, GIEMSA staining for detection of blood parasites, colormetric methodology for fungal detection, ELISA covering Microbiology; Virology, & Mycology agents, Fecal Chemistry testing (i.e. qualitative fat analysis, osmolality, reducing sugars, etc.). Requires Bachelor's degree in Clinical or Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or in the chemical or biological sciences; and ASCP or AAB certification as MLS or MT.
