Job Summary
A postdocotral position is available in the Yang Laboratory at the Unviersity of Utah. The research conducted in the Yang laboratory at the John A. Moran Eye Center of the University of Utah focuses on the disease mechanisms underlying inherited retinal degeneration and hearing loss, the cell biology of photoreceptors and hair cells, and potential treatments. We utilize mouse models and various approaches in molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, omics, bioinformatics, electrophysiology, behavior, and multiple microscopy techniques.
The hired postdoctoral researcher will receive compensation based on the current NIH NRSA Kirschstein scale. In accordance with the University of Utah’s policies, he/she will be offered health and dental insurance and other benefits. He/she will have access to all research and training resources available at the University of Utah and to the postdoctoral training programs in the Departments of Ophthalmology and Neurobiology.

Responsibilities
Read scientific literature and learn new knowledge/technologies from all sources in order to advance research projects
Propose hypotheses and design research experiments to test the hypotheses
Analyze and interpret results of the experiments, and be able to troubleshoot
Prepare and communicate research findings in manuscripts and in conference presentations
Seek funding from possible federal and private foundation organizations
Work collaboratively with supervisor and other project team members
Train graduate students and undergraduate students
Minimum Qualifications
A fresh PhD degree within 2 years
A strong background and research experience in molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, genetics, physiology, and/or neurobiology
Preferences
The position is for a highly motivated individual with 0 to 2 years of postdoctoral experience. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree and have a strong background and expertise in molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, genetics, physiology, and/or neuroscience.
