State of Utah - Jobs Research Consultant III in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

The Department of Government Operations (DGO),Division of Risk Management,is looking for a motivated research consultant to join our team!  Job Description This is a mid-level research specialist position. Applicants are required to have a wide range of knowledge regarding data research,collection,and stewardship. The Applicant will be working under the general supervision of the Division of Risk Management Analytics Section. They will be required to understand liability,property,and auto insurance claims and be aware of risk management principles. Applicants will perform activities that will include using computer software programs to store,retrieve,analyze,and ensure data accuracy. Familiarity with Salesforce,Riskonnect,Origami,and AWS is a plus as some system administrative work will be required. The employee will be required to work with Google products,and Microsoft products and must have previous Excel experience. This position requires regular consultation with agency leadership to create reports or documentation to pinpoint problems and solutions. This will be accomplished by utilizing the aforementioned software to extricate large,complex data sets and present them in dashboards,reports,white papers,and other published documents. Applicants will be allowed to use considerable discretion and judgment in the performance of tasks and provide high-level expertise in research design,analysis,and data needed to examine issues,trends,and program evaluations to improve operations. *Note: This position is currently a hybrid of both in-office (2 days a week required in office) and remote work days. Health Insurance - Public Employee Health Program (PEHP):

  • 3 medical plan options. Choose a Traditional or High Deductible Health Plan. There is an Opt-Out Cash Benefit option for those that have other medical insurance coverage.
  • 5 dental plan options,with an Opt-Out Cash Benefit option for those that have other dental insurance coverage.
  • 4 vision plan options under EyeMed or OptiCare

Retirement - Utah Retirement Systems (URS):

  • Employees who have any service credit with an employer covered by the Utah Retirement Systems prior to 7/1/2011 are in the Tier I Public Employees System.
  • Employees hired on or after 7/1/2011 and who have never been in the URS retirement system have two options for retirement in the Tier II System. 
    • Tier 2 Hybrid Retirement System. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary between both plans (pension and 401(k))
    • Tier 2 Defined Contribution Plan. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary to a 401(k) plan only.  
  • Employer contributions to your 401(k) are vested after four years.

Paid Time Off:

  • Annual leave and sick leave are accrued at 4 hours per pay period each (4 hours annual,4 hours sick).
  • Annual leave amounts increase with years of service. 
  • We have 12 paid holidays.
