The Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships is part of Salt Lake Community College (SLCC)'s Enrollment Management team dedicated to helping students find the resources to help pay for their education through federal, state, institutional, and private funding.
The Financial Aid Specialist is responsible to:
- Meet with students to assist in the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Meet with students in person, phone, and virtually to assist in the completion of the financial aid process.
- Work weekly reports to update, review, and process aid applications.
- Review, analyze and process documents submitted by students.
- Inform students via e-mail, phone, and in-person of steps to complete the aid process.
- Assist with the processing of Books & Supplies Loans.
- Support office by assisting front desk with students, calls and emails, as needed.
- Conduct presentations to detail the financial aid process and completion of FAFSA. These take place on and off-campus and may be during evenings and weekends at peak times.
- Assist the Financial Aid Tech Team with special projects.

``` - Meet with students to assist in the completion and processing of applications. - This may include helping complete forms and applications, answering questions, providing information, resolving problems, and other related tasks. - Analyze and process financial aid documents to determine completion of forms and eligibility for financial aid. - Inform students of any missing documents that may delay receipt of financial aid. - Review documents for accuracy to determine whether file is complete and is to be awarded or if corrections must be processed. - Monitor submitted corrections. - Review corrections upon receipt by OFAS to determine accuracy. - Determine if additional information is needed, if additional corrections must be made, or if file can be awarded. - Review student files to determine compliance with satisfactory progress requirements. - Inform students who may need to appeal to receive financial aid. - Act as a resource for the front desk staff and phone staff. - Assist with questions concerning eligibility, satisfactory progress requirements and completion of paperwork. - Assist front desk or phone staff with upset or angry students on an as needed basis. - Work on special projects with the Tech Team. - Other duties as assigned.
