Job Title: CNC Operator

Job Description

As a CNC Operator, you will start in the deburr area for approximately three weeks. Once you demonstrate proficiency in deburring and blending metals correctly, you will be assigned to a machine that aligns with your previous experience. You may also work in an assembly area performing tasks such as riveting, notching, and installing fasteners. The role involves using a paperless system for all setup sheets, and opportunities to learn new machines are available. In between machine run times, you will help in other areas of the machine shop by deburring other parts or setting them up in the tumbler.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC 3-axis mills

  • Use Mori Seiki and Fadal machines

  • Work with materials such as aluminum, copper, brass, carbon steel, and chromalloy

  • Grind, finish, and deburr parts

  • Perform basic quality inspections and read blueprints using vernier calipers, digital micrometers, and gauges

  • Operate a rubber molding machine by lifting molds into place, inserting metal frames and rubber filling, and engaging the mold to press and melt the rubber

  • Mill and drill parts to specification

  • Measure and examine completed products for defects

  • Use micrometer, drop gauge, depth mic, and other measurement tools

  • Evaluate the finish for cutter wear or damage

  • Read and interpret blueprints

Essential Skills

  • 6+ months of CNC operating experience OR 3+ years of machine operator experience

  • Ability to set up and operate the machine

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to meet production metrics

  • Proficiency in reading blueprints

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with CNC mills, especially Haas Mill and Mori Seiki

  • Familiarity with G&M code programming

  • Experience using digital micrometers, calipers, and other measurement tools

  • Knowledge of grinding, deburring, and quality inspection processes

Work Environment

This position is within a large, open manufacturing setting that produces composite seals primarily for aerospace. The facility includes a machine shop, molding and bonding areas (machine presses), and warehouse areas. It is a very safe and clean work environment. The team is divided into three shifts: 67 people on 1st, 40 people on 2nd, and 5 people on 3rd shift.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $25.00
