Rady Children's Hospital San Diego Outpatient Clinic Nurse (RN) - Gastroenterology in San Diego, California

POSITION DETAILS:

Schedule: Days, 8 - 10 hour shifts (not remote)

FTE: Part-time, 64 hours per pay period

JOB SUMMARY:

The Gastroenterology Outpatient Clinic RN functions at the standard level of nursing practice and is responsible for the independent application of the nursing process while providing both indirect and direct patient care. This includes, but is not limited to, supporting providers in clinic with intake and discharge, in clinic patient education, using department protocols and procedures to perform education and advice to patients, in clinic procedures and nurse run visits, manages patient requests and needs via telephone triage and patient messaging via EPIC, in-clinic medication administration, and the utilization of standing orders for prescription refills and diagnostic/laboratory testing as ordered. They administer the appropriate care, taking into consideration the age, developmental level, and family/caregiver dynamics. They facilitates effective clinic operations, participates in Quality Management within scope of practice. The Outpatient Clinic RN performs other duties as assigned from time to time as required, to improve outcomes, service, safety, and care. The Gastroenterology division cares for patients with general and complex diagnoses and symptoms. The Outpatient Clinic RN facilitates effective functionality of clinic operations, actively participates in Quality Management, and supports Provider team within his/her/their scope of practice. The Outpatient Clinic RN in also performs additional team functions as required to maintain effective customer service, a blend of hand on procedures, non-complex patient care coordination, education on disease management, and in clinic support. We are looking for someone that is autonomous, collaborative, supportive of teams, an educator, customer focused, and solution driven. The Outpatient Clinic RN would be joining a large division with a collaborative partnership with Providers and ancillary support staff as well as an engaged and dynamic team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing

• 6 months of related experience in direct patient care

• Current California RN License

• Current BLS for Healthcare Providers, issued by AHA

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

• 2 years of experience direct patient care

• Experience in a pediatric hospital/ambulatory care

• Bilingual – Spanish
