Aerotek Chemical Technician - SJ in San Jose, California

Job Title: Chemical Technician - SJ on the Swing shift.

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Chemical Technician who will be responsible for inspecting and packaging finished products in accordance with quality specifications and procedures. The ideal candidate will work at the expected rate of speed after receiving proper training and will be accountable for following all instructions provided in quality system documents.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and package finished products according to quality specifications and procedures.

  • Understand and use Quality system Work Instructions and Check Sheets.

  • Inspect products to meet quality inspection criteria and communicate issues to the Extrusion Operator.

  • Perform scheduled quality checks and enter data into the QDS system.

  • Maintain and operate line gauge, tape measure, gloss meter, color meter, and other inspection tools.

  • Count products accurately for packaging.

  • Assist with start-up, shutdown, roll changes, die disassembly, cleaning, and assembly of the line.

  • Maintain good housekeeping and safety practices.

  • Clean grinders as needed.

  • Operate RF handheld and labeling systems.

  • Keep scrap peeled, cut, and ground in a timely manner.

  • Maintain adequate packaging supplies at the end of the line.

  • Put away full skids in their appropriate place and understand the location transfer system.

  • Mark excess scrap on skids clearly.

  • Isolate all non-conforming material by following non-conforming procedures.

  • Communicate continuous improvement opportunities to the supervisor.

  • Share relevant information with Operators/Inspector Packages on the next shift.

  • Assist other inspectors when appropriate.

  • Maintain proper care and storage of Quality Masters.

  • Complete all other projects and tasks assigned by the supervisor.

  • Experience in the manufacturing industry

  • Visual inspection skills

  • Chemical handling expertise

  • Packaging and assembly skills

  • Production and inspection experience

  • Quality control knowledge

  • Blueprint reading capability

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Good communication skills

  • Ability to operate a forklift

  • Basic computer skills

  • Accurate gauge measurement reading

  • Legible handwriting

  • Ability to kneel, reach, walk, push, pull, and grasp

  • Capability to stand for long periods of time

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. consistently

  • Experience working with hazardous chemicals

  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment

  • Reading and comprehension of directions

  • Effective hearing and speaking to communicate with co-workers (accommodations available for emergency alerts for deaf employees)

Work Environment

You will be required to wear personal protective equipment where applicable. The work environment may involve exposure to moderate noise levels from printers, faxes, and computers. You will be subject to frequent interruptions.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Jose, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
