TEKsystems Data Center Technician II in Sandston, Virginia
Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Data Center Technician to join our team. The main function of this role is to monitor software to process business, scientific, engineering, and other data according to operating instructions. The Technician will be responsible for removing network cables as part of a data center decommission, running, labeling, and staging power and networking cables, and following procedures for preparing, installing, performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, replacing, and/or decommissioning equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Remove network cables as part of a data center decommission.
Run, label, and stage power and networking cables.
Follow procedures for preparing, installing, performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, replacing, and/or decommissioning equipment with guidance from Data Center Technician Leads.
Prepare, stage, set up, and perform basic startups and shutdowns for hardware following written instructions, checklists, guides, and standard procedures.
Conduct physical audits of data center assets.
Monitor the system for equipment failure or errors in performance.
Respond to program error messages by finding and correcting problems or terminating the program.
Assist programmers and systems analysts in testing and debugging new programs.
Operate spreadsheet programs and other types of software to load and manipulate data and produce reports.
Qualifications:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components.
Basic understanding of how to use Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).
1+ years of data center experience required.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
Basic ability to work independently and manage one’s time.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
