Carnival Cruise Line Manager, Energy Efficiency and Fuel in Santa Clarita, California

Job Description

We’re looking for an amazing Energy Efficiency and Fuel Manager to fill this role, which is based in our Santa Clarita or Fort Lauderdale offices. You’ll be responsible for tracking vessel operational fuel efficiency, including voyage, hull, technical, and hotel efficiency and proactively looking for opportunities to reduce fuel consumption and costs across the fleet. You’ll also be responsible for developing performance reports, KPI dashboards and organizing and leading meetings to accomplish goals across shoreside departments and ships’ teams. You’ll prepare and present Energy Efficiency reports to Company management.

Responsibilities

  • Tracking vessel operational fuel efficiency, including voyage execution, power plant efficiency, auxiliary, hotel systems & hull performance. Identify and prioritize action items. Support Itinerary development from an energy efficiency perspective. Collaborate on building Fuel Forecasts and keep track of future Forecast improvements.

  • Responsible for compilation, preparation and development of vessel performance dashboards and reports (including hull performance, power plant efficiency (SFOC), AAQS, HVAC, hotel, freshwater production, waste heat recovery systems, etc.) to be reviewed during periodic fuel calls with the fleet and technical operations leaders. Responsible for organizing and leading meetings on action items

  • Develop and/or collaborate on novel energy efficiency platforms and systems. As appropriate, drive use of energy efficiency platforms across the fleet.

  • Collaborate with PCL Energy Projects team and ensure operational implementation of energy savings projects. Conduct costs savings validations for completed technical upgrades, and fuel savings calculations for future projects.

  • Perform periodic and ad hoc analysis of vessel fuel consumption, energy efficiency, KPIs and trending to enable more efficient vessel operations.

  • Collaborate on Corporate Energy Efficiency and Carbon Reduction innovation and initiatives.

  • Stay up to date on Carnival Corporation and Maritime Industry energy efficiency innovation and initiatives and present to PCL leadership when appropriate.

  • Continually familiarize and improve knowledge on ships’ technical systems with efficiency opportunities and navigational operations. This may necessitate occasional travel to company ships .

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Naval Architecture, Engineering, Marine Engineering. Master's Degree preferred.

  • Energy management certificate &/or data analytics certificate.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in relevant role (e.g. energy management, marine or technical operations management, energy project management or fuel & energy consumption)

  • Basic knowledge of marine bunkering operations, marine fuels, shipboard operations, energy efficiency, technical analysis, numerical/empirical modelling. Understanding of budgeting and forecasting techniques is a preference. Excellent analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple projects to completion.

  • Ability to do self-motivated deep-dives in data and operational feed-back to identify trends, opportunities and action items.

  • Minimum: Proficient in Microsoft 365 suite of applications, advanced proficiency in Excel including look-ups, pivot tables and macros. Ability to handle large quantities of data. Programming experience (Python, SQL) is preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills. Able to work across different disciplines, departments, countries and cultures.

  • Able to present reports and communicate priorities to other departments and Company Leadership

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Princess is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-1B status).

Please note that this position is HYBRID, based in our Santa Clarita or Fort Lauderdale offices. Successful candidate must be within commute distance and able to go into the office 3 days per week.

  • Base Salary Range: $83,300.00 to $112,500.00. The range is applicable for the labor market where the role is intended to be hired. Final base salary is directly related to each candidates' qualifications and experience uniquely.
