Skidmore College Systems Technician in Saratoga Springs, New York
Skidmore College is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic candidate to join the Technical Services team within the Information Technology Department as Systems Technician. The successful candidate will work with all members of the Technical Services team, under direction of the Director of Infrastructure. Primary duties will include support/maintenance of the card access environment (including point of sale), with additional duties supporting the network and phone systems.
Responsibilities include:
Configuring, supporting and maintaining card access hardware and software (40%)
Configuring, supporting and maintaining point of sale devices (25%)
Configuring, supporting and maintaining wired and wireless networks (25%)
Assisting in support of phone system and related hardware/software (10%)
Minimum Qualifications:
Associates degree in a related field or 2+ years of experience in a technical position
Strong technical knowledge of computers and peripherals
Familiarity with wired/wireless networks
Excellent communication and documentation skills
Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment
Time management skills and the ability to multitask
Must be flexible. Occasional after-hours support is required
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with data or electrical wiring
Experience supporting POS systems
Experience supporting wired/wireless networks
Experience with Windows server operating systems
Good written and verbal communication, with an emphasis on customer service
