The Skidmore College ACS-approved Department of Chemistry invites applications from qualified individuals for a three-year Visiting Assistant Professor position to teach in our biochemistry and introductory chemistry sequences beginning in Fall 2025. Skidmore is a highly selective, nationally-ranked liberal arts college located in Saratoga Springs, New York, with a student population of 2,700, 27% of whom are domestic students of color, 27% are students with a documented disability, 7% are international students, and 12% are first-generation students. The average teaching load is 9 contact hours per semester (18 contact hours per year), where lecture sections are 3 contact hours and labs are 3-4 contact hours. Laboratory class sizes are typically limited to 16 students or fewer. Additional compensation for summer instruction is sometimes possible. Skidmore supports faculty in many ways, including internal grants for faculty development, a new faculty learning community, a Center for Leadership, Teaching, and Learning, and funds to travel to meetings or workshops and for societal memberships. Minimum Qualifications: a Ph.D. in biochemistry, chemistry, or a related field is required.

Preferred Qualifications: prior teaching experience and/or training is preferred.

Pay Range: $66,000 - $70,000

The hiring rate for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:

• Prior relevant work or industry experience.

• Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.

• Academic discipline (faculty pay ranges reflect 9-month annual salary).
