Position Purpose:

The Aircraft Component Repair Technician will be responsible for repairing and overhauling internal and external aircraft assemblies, subassemblies, and components. The position requires performing repairs according to Company Repair Station requirements and applicable regulations, including FAA standards. This role involves using a variety of tools, materials, and equipment to ensure all parts and assemblies meet conformance and are ready for return to service. The technician will work under close supervision, developing the skills required for the role.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and Apply Technical Skills:

  2. Learn and develop basic skills in procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and equipment used in the repair and overhaul of aircraft components.

  3. Apply knowledge and expertise to troubleshoot and repair aircraft components under close supervision.

  4. Perform Repairs and Overhaul of Aircraft Components:

  5. Repair and overhaul mechanical and electrical assemblies and subassemblies, following maintenance manuals, blueprints, engineering dispositions, and verbal instructions.

  6. Remove, repair, replace defective parts, fabricate replacement components, and re-install assemblies in accordance with specified guidelines and authorized maintenance data.

  7. Ensure that all repairs conform to Company Repair Station standards and regulatory requirements.

  8. Test Equipment Operation:

  9. Set up and operate required test equipment in compliance with documentation to perform functional and operational tests of mechanical and electrical aircraft components.

  10. Ensure components are tested properly for return to service, confirming that they meet the required standards for operational functionality.

  11. Inspect Parts and Components:

  12. Inspect all detail parts using blueprints, component maintenance manuals, and other required maintenance data.

  13. Ensure that all parts and assemblies meet conformity requirements before proceeding with installation or further assembly.

  14. Record Maintenance Data:

  15. Maintain and accurately complete all necessary paperwork in accordance with FAA Repair Station requirements.

  16. Ensure all work is documented properly for traceability and compliance.

  17. Work Area Maintenance:

  18. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including tools, test equipment, and any peripherals used during the repair processes.

  19. Ensure all materials and tools are in good working condition to maintain an efficient and safe working environment.

  20. Environmental Health and Safety Compliance:

  21. Adhere to all company and legislative environmental health and safety regulations during all aspects of the job.

  22. Follow safety protocols to minimize risk and ensure a safe working environment.

Additional Functions:

  1. Component and Flight Control Maintenance:

  2. Remove skins and related components on flight controls and secondary structure components.

  3. Install and reinstall parts and components according to specifications.

  4. Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) Maintenance:

  5. Remove and install Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) and perform all required APU maintenance for Company aircraft models.

  6. Read and interpret Company Maintenance Manuals regarding APU maintenance and repair.

  7. Sheetmetal and Mechanical Fabrication:

  8. Fabricate and repair sheetmetal and associated mechanical parts by rolling, shrinking, stretching, braking, riveting, or using other mechanical means.

  9. Repair and fabricate structural components, equipment, and assemblies to required specifications.

  10. Electrical Assembly and Wiring:

  11. Fabricate and repair wiring and electrical assemblies, including harnesses, by utilizing acceptable repair techniques such as splicing, soldering, and pinning of wires.

  12. Apply protective coatings and troubleshoot electrical components as required.

  13. Effective Repair Techniques:

  14. Demonstrate and apply effective repair techniques, including troubleshooting, soldering, and using best practices for component repairs.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Experience:

  • A minimum of 1 year of related experience in sheetmetal fabrication, mechanical repairs, or hydraulic overhaul is preferred.

  • Experience with electrical theory, wiring, or aircraft electrical systems is preferred.

  • Candidates with experience in machining, CNC, or conventional machining are encouraged to apply.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of shop math and aircraft maintenance processes, including sheetmetal production and hydraulic systems.

  • Repair Knowledge: Knowledge of repair processes for mechanical and electrical assemblies and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Attention to Detail: Ability to read blueprints, component maintenance manuals, and other technical documentation accurately.

  • Testing and Troubleshooting: Capable of setting up and operating test equipment to perform functional and operational tests.

  • Manual Dexterity: Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and other equipment required for fabricating, repairing, and assembling components.

  • Machining Knowledge: Familiarity with basic machining techniques, including CNC or conventional machining, is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform manual tasks such as handling tools and parts.

  • Work Environment: Ability to work in confined spaces and at various heights when necessary.

  • Visual and Manual Coordination: Strong hand-eye coordination and the ability to work with precision tools.

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and handle the physical demands of the job.

Work Environment:

  • Work Location: Aircraft component repair shop or facility, subject to temperature and noise variations inherent in the environment.

  • Shifts: This role may require shift work, overtime, or weekend hours based on project timelines.

Pay Details: $25.66 per hour
