The Senior Technical Specialist role is sub-regional-based, reporting to the Sales Manager aligning in the Field Sales Structure; this individual will offer technical support to our Technical Service Specialists within the Southeast Region.

As a Senior Technical Specialist (Southeast Region) (ECT-Chemetall), you create chemistry by...

  • Being the second line of technical support with customers. Having knowledge of multiple technical applications, segments and technology product lines.

  • Working on process optimization and process design. Conducting tests for technical approvals for key, segment sponsored customers.

  • Providing routine service to select key customers within sub-region geography.

  • Leading proactive, key customer process and documentation audits.

  • Exchanging application knowledge and best practices with Regional Technical Specialist.

  • Supporting and promoting roll-out of new technologies.

  • Participating in large, regional and / or global customer start-ups.

  • Participating and contributing to business reviews for Key Territory Accounts.

  • Collaborating and exchanging information with Process Equipment Group on best practices.

  • Supporting key customers, Industry Sales, and RTS for assisting in process design improvements.

  • Sharing to the TSS, TSR and customers and train in using, the best practices for industries and applications. Assisting and supporting in developing and gathering those best practices.

  • Making product recommendations that are in-line with Industry best practices and Product Management initiatives.

  • Establishing and ensuring continuity and standards of Technical Service quality.

  • Coaching and mentoring to TSS, taking responsibility for the training of TSS on specific, established technologies. Working with District Manager on establishing training schedule and selection of training curriculum. Developing technical training curriculum for TSS and TSR’s.

If you...

  • Hold a BS Degree, preferably in a science field, or the equivalent in training or experience.

  • Minimum of 3 years of technical service experience, preferably with surface treatment or similar products.

  • Possess prior experience with surface treatment and are a technology expert regarding chemical and application knowhow.

  • Prior experience providing product technical support, able to troubleshoot, identify root cause, and problem solve.

  • Excellent time management skills and communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Possess experience with people development, including technical skill development and cross training.

  • Prior interface management experience (with sales, customer, and technology)

  • Are able to daily travel and an average of 40% overnight travel (company car will be provided)

  • Candidate should live within their Region.

Pay transparency

BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $80,000 - $120,000. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
