Northwest Community Hospital CT Technologist - Schaumburg, , Part time, Days 20 hrs/week in Schaumburg, Illinois

Shift: Part time, Days , 20 hrs/week * Reporting to the Director of Radiology/Imaging with accountability to the Manager and the Team Facilitator and under the direction of a radiologist, receives and prepares patients and operates computerized, non-invasive scanning equipment to provide computerized tomography (CT) radiographic scans for radiologists and physicians to diagnose patients' injuries and/or study body systems. 1. Prepares patient for procedures; instructs patient concerning examination; positions patient according to procedure protocol; applies immobilization devices as needed. 2. Explains examination procedure to the patient and responds to patient’s questions. Utilizes and promotes AIDET concepts in all customer interactions. 3. Obtains and provides clinical information and patient history to Radiologist for all patient procedures. 4. Administers radiographic contrast media by intravenous injection according to infection control/universal precautions guidelines; administers enteric contrast media as required. 5. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to assess, treat, and care for all age groups of patients (neonatal through geriatric); implements assessment/treatment/care based on the developmental stages of the patient. Involves family/guardian in plan of care and conducts patient and family education, as appropriate, considering the developmental needs of the patient. 6. Operates CT scanner in a manner that provides Radiologist with optimum quality images. Communicates Radiologists preliminary interpretation to appropriate individuals as applicable. 7. Schedules patients and works at the reception station when needed. 8. Retrieves medications that are not controlled substances. 9. Maintains order and sanitary conditions of work environment in accordance with hospital standards. Checks operating condition of equipment, ensures cleanliness of exam rooms, stocks and maintains supplies, etc. 10. Supervises the activities of students assigned to the work area; assists in training and evaluation. 11. Assumes responsibility for own professional growth by attending Continuing Education classes, seminars, and by reading professional journals. 12. Adheres to departmental and hospital safety standards in order to maintain a safe patient care and/or working environment; attends all mandatory safety inservice education programs. 13. Performs on-call duties as scheduled. 14. Adheres to all Northwest Community Hospital standards, policies, and procedures. 1.Graduateof an accredited school in Radiologic Technology. 2.ARRT(American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification inCTand currentARRTregistration. 3. Current Illinois Emergency Management Agencylicense. 4. Knowledge of and/or experience in the correct use of body mechanics. 5. CurrentCPRcertification though American Heart Association. 6. The interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with patients who may be anxious or confused and to interact with physicians and other hospital staff. 7. The analytical ability to determine proper patient positioning and scanning parameters based on suspected pathology, patient size and age, and other controlling factors. 8. The written and verbal communication skills necessary to document patient procedures, inform patients regarding procedures, and communicate radiologists’ interpretation. 9. The ability to maintain a flexible work schedule and fulfill on-call responsibilities PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Moderate physical effort. Requires continuous standing or walking. Requires frequent lifting or moving of average weight material (positioning equipment and transporting film) and occasionally lifting or moving heavy weight material (transferring patients) in difficult work positions. 2. Flow of work and character of duties involves concentrated mental/visual attention much or all of the time along with manual coordination. WORKING CONDITIONS: 1. Conditions are acceptable. At least one disagreeable element or hazard, i.e. risk of exposure to radiation, is frequently present in the environment and there is occasional exposure to infectious diseases.
