Ellis Medicine Director of Quality Services in Schenectady, New York

BASIC FUNCTION:

Focused on organizational quality and clinical excellence, this position helps identify strategies that will allow Ellis Medicine to become patient centered while achieving clinical, operational, quality and financial performance goals.

The Director of Quality provides direction and leadership for the design and implementation of the health system’s quality strategies including infection prevention, risk management, patient safety, regulatory compliance, pay for performance and incentive programs, and clinical performance with the intent to improve overall quality of care thereby positively impacting the patient experience. The Director of Quality will also work directly with hospital counsel in legal affairs, coordinating efforts with counsel. The Director will lead meaningful change to improve health care services, outcomes and processes, to ensure Ellis’s patients safety and quality of care remain in the forefront. Work closely with Chief Medical Officer to develop, monitor, and educate physicians on use of patient data systems that drives improvements and reporting patient outcomes through the use of evidence based data and scorecards.

The incumbent plans, directs, and coordinates the resources necessary to continually and proactively identify, evaluate and reduce medical errors, occurrences and patient/family dissatisfaction. Working collaboratively across the health system, assists in managing compliance with external agencies including TJC, CMS and DOH. Serves as a resource between internal and external organizations to communicate and facilitate actions necessary to achieve the organization's goals. The leader will provide support to improvement teams in delivering results in specific time frames. The Director will be outcomes driven and identify breakthrough changes in results, services and/or processes throughout the organization.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree (preferred) in nursing, biology, engineering technology, or health care management. Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred.

Experience: Minimum seven years of experience in acute care hospital experience in quality and safety, health care management, quality leadership roles. Experience in Lean, Six Sigma, TJC, CMS, NYSDOH and other regulatory bodies preferred. Demonstrated successful experience in organizational performance improvement and achieving quality and financial outcomes, designing and implementing change initiatives and building outstanding working relationships with physicians and health leaders. Demonstrated ability to creatively strategize and communicate concepts. Must have experience with both direct management of staff as well as influencing teams and leaders who are not direct reports.

Salary Range: $44.19-66.28 /hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
